The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced senior hotel leader to serve as General Manager and lead the full pre-opening and operational launch of The Maligne. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape a flagship boutique luxury property from the ground up in a world-class mountain destination. The General Manager will oversee the entire hotel operation, the Spirit Island Thermal Spa, and three food and beverage outlets, with significant involvement in pre-opening planning, construction coordination, recruitment, and operational readiness. This role may be well suited to a General Manager currently with a luxury brand (e.g. Four Seasons, Fairmont, or similar) who is seeking a 2+ year opportunity in a different location or project environment before returning to a larger brand setting. Key Responsibilities Pre-Opening Phase (approximately 10 months prior to opening): Lead all pre-opening planning, coordination, and execution Work closely with ownership, consultants, and contractors to support the transition from construction to operations Provide input and oversight on OS&E and FF&E selection, procurement, installation, and readiness Develop and implement all operational systems, SOPs, service standards, and training programs Lead recruitment and onboarding in a competitive and remote labour market, including hiring all department heads and managers Establish the service culture and guest experience philosophy aligned with The Maligne and Decore Hotels Support brand positioning, pricing strategy, and launch planning Post-Opening: Provide hands-on leadership across hotel operations, the thermal spa, and all food and beverage outlets Deliver a consistent, elevated guest experience rooted in connection, wellness, and service excellence Build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams in a collaborative, family-like culture Drive financial performance, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction Represent the hotel within the Jasper community and build strong local relationships Spa and Wellness Vision The Spirit Island Thermal Spa is a core pillar of The Maligne experience and operates as a major standalone entity within the property. The spa includes indoor and outdoor facilities across two levels, featuring sauna circuits, cold plunges, steam rooms, hot tubs, salt rooms, botanical gardens, and relaxation spaces. The property will also include a full fitness facility with a gym, yoga and stretch studio, and curated wellness programming and activities. While technical spa expertise is not required, the General Manager must champion wellness as an integrated guest experience and ensure alignment across hotel, spa, fitness, and food and beverage operations.
