OVERVIEW The Analyst, Western Programs is a financial and operational analyst role focused on building, maintaining, and interpreting Excelbased models and reports that directly support business decisionmaking. The role combines strong financial analysis fundamentals with advanced Excel modelling to analyze operational metrics and translate them into clear financial and business insights. This role is best suited for a Financial Analyst who enjoys owning analytical areas endtoend, developing a deep understanding of how the business operates, and acting as a trusted analytical partner to management. The success in this role is measured by judgment, accuracy, and the ability to clearly explain results. The successful candidate is expected to take ownership of assigned models and reporting streams and provide analytical support to decision makers in an expert capacity. RESPONSIBILITIES Financial & Operational Modelling Develop, maintain, and enhance complex Excelbased financial and operational models to support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cost allocation, and scenario analysis. Analyze nonfinancial operational metrics and translate activity drivers into financial impacts and insights. Ensure models are accurate, wellstructured, welldocumented, and suitable for management decisionmaking. Reporting & Analysis Prepare recurring and adhoc management reports, KPIs, and dashboards that clearly communicate performance, trends, and key drivers. Perform variance, trend, and sensitivity analysis and tell the story behind the numbers for both financial and nonfinancial audiences. Conduct operational and financial performance reviews with management, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommended actions. Business Partnership & Ownership Take ownership of assigned analytical areas, developing a strong understanding of program operations, cost structures, and data flows. Proactively identify opportunities to improve insights, reporting quality, and analytical approaches. Act as an analytical partner to internal stakeholders, supporting both tactical and strategic decisionmaking. Data Management & Process Improvement Retrieve, consolidate, validate, and reconcile data from multiple operational and financial sources for use in models and reporting. Improve the efficiency, robustness, and reliability of Excelbased reporting and modelling processes. Document models, assumptions, and methodologies to support continuity and knowledge transfer. QUALIFICATIONS Experience 26 years of experience in a financial analyst, FP&A, or similar analytical role with a strong emphasis on Excelbased modelling and analysis. Demonstrated experience building and maintaining multiinput financial and operational models used for decision support. Knowledge/Competencies/Skills Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, including complex formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, and VBA. Strong experience in financial analysis, planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting. Solid understanding of financial and accounting concepts (e.g., accruals, cost drivers, general ledger structure) for analytical purposes. Ability to work effectively with incomplete or ambiguous inputs, develop reasonable assumptions, and clearly communicate limitations and risks. High attention to detail and a strong quality mindset, including validating and crosschecking work before delivery. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex analysis clearly to nonfinancial stakeholders. Selfstarter with the discipline to work effectively in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities independently. Assets: Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools; Python, SQL, AWS Redshift. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP). Exposure to automation within Excel or related tools. Experience in recycling, waste management, environmental programs, or related industries. WORKING CONDITIONS All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a Canadian home office environment. Overtime is required in peak seasons. PAY TRANSPARENCY Expected Compensation An annual base salary in the range of $60,000 to $80,000 The salary range listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects a potential base salary range for this role. The actual salary offered will be determined within the range, and will depend on factors such as the candidates unique qualifications, relevant experience, work location and expected contributions.
