Summary Ranger Inspection Ltd. (''Ranger Inspection'') has been providing American Petroleum Institute (API) Inspection, Non-destructive Examination (NDE), calibration, engineering, evaluation and consulting services for over 20 years in energy, utility, infrastructure construction and other sectors. Our inspection technology and systems have been implemented in Canada, the United States and internationally. The Junior API Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Inspector will be responsible for performing and interpreting a wide range of inspection methods to assess the integrity of industrial assets. The Junior API NDE Inspector will ensure compliance with safety requirements, quality plans, and applicable industry standards, prepare accurate inspection reports, provide technical recommendations, and collaborate with clients, engineers, and field teams. Job Duties This role is responsible for: Being directly involved and liaising with internal engineering departments, client engineering teams, and third-party engineering firms. Completing and reporting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) studies and evaluations. Completing and providing hydrostatic test exemption assessments. Completing and providing venting calculations. Applying API, ASME, ASTM, CSA, ISO, and client-specific codes and standards. Performing maintenance, inspection, repair, and post-repair non-destructive testing (NDT) activities. Transporting, setting up, calibrating, and maintaining NDT equipment. Performing inspections using Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Eddy Current Testing (ECT), and Visual Testing (VT). Conducting MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage) inspections for tank floors, pipelines, and components. Performing inspections using 3D scanning and digital measurement technologies for dimensional verification and deformation analysis. Establishing proper examination techniques and procedures while ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and radiation protection standards where applicable. Interpreting radiographs, CRT or digital readouts, ultrasonic data, conductivity meters, and other inspection indicators. Evaluating inspection results in accordance with applicable API, ASME, ASTM, CSA, ISO, and client-specific standards. Ensuring compliance with quality control and inspection plans. Preparing, organizing, and submitting clear and accurate inspection reports and documentation. Identifying defects, discontinuities, corrosion, and structural degradation, and providing professional recommendations. Performing inspections on pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, pipelines, structural steel, and equipment. Coordinating with engineers, clients, and field teams to support inspection activities. Assisting with audits, repair verification, and post-inspection assessments. Instructing, mentoring, and supervising trainee inspectors when required. Maintaining certification records and ensuring tools and equipment remain compliant with calibration requirements. Other duties assigned and consistent with the role. Terms of Employment Permanent and full-time (40 hours/week). Location(s) of Work (local area, city, or town) Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and client project sites Skills Requirements Education Requirements Bachelors degree in engineering, science or a related area required. Masters degree in engineering is preferred. Certification in one or more NDT methods (UT, MT, PT, RT, ECT, VT) required. American Petroleum Institute (API) 653 Certification required. Work Experience Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience performing inspections under applicable API Codes (510, 570 and 653). Experience with aboveground storage tank design and inspection in accordance with API 653. Experience with MFL and 3D scanning inspection systems. Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including API, ASME, ASTM, CSA, ISO, and client-specific standards. Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures related to oil & gas process equipment. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to safety programs and procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in technical report writing Ability to work in field-based work in environments including confined spaces, hazardous conditions, and remote locations. Sound physical health and ability to meet job demands. Clean criminal record check required. Employee will be subject to pre-employment, random, and client-required drug and alcohol testing.
