Job Description

Work Term: Summer 2027 (May - August) This is a work term opportunity for CSIS students from May 2027 to August 2027. The program is designed to identify and develop potential full-time employees. Responsibilities / Opportunities Analysis and Exploration of Information Sources (AXIS): opportunities to apply to one or multiple areas of interest within the branch for student job opportunities. Gain exposure to development in the following areas: teamwork, collaboration with subject matter experts, diverse work environments, and time/project management. Stream 1 Dataset Coordinator / Data Governance: conduct research and analysis on datasets, prepare documentation, review and coordinate submissions; contribute to briefings to management and stakeholders; collaborate to develop templates and update SOPs; compile usage statistics and draft reporting. Stream 2 Tactical Internet and Intelligence Centre: perform administrative tasks; assist with open source and social media research; develop tracking systems; gain exposure to day-to-day TIIC operations; advise on up-to-date Internet applications for Open Source Intelligence. Stream 3 Data & Information Exploitation: support operations; analyze financial, biometric, geospatial data; write reports and present findings; support policy documentation and SOPs; perform secretariat functions for working groups (agendas, minutes, actions). Stream 4 Open Source Information Centre: create repositories and guides; assist research triage and distribution; manage library resources and cataloguing; participate in database trials and upgrades. Education Registered full-time in one of the following academic paths and years at the time of placement: College Diploma student in their 3rd year Undergraduate degree student in their 3rd year or higher Graduate-level student (Masters or Ph.D.) Must be in a field of study relevant to the position, such as Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Law, Communications, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, Mathematics, Information and Records Management, Library and Information Science. Salary College or undergraduate Annual Rate: 46,548 66,035; Hourly Rate: 23.79 33.75 Graduate Annual Rate: 53,220 67,151; Hourly Rate: 27.20 34.32 Security Requirements Candidates must be eligible to receive an Enhanced Top Secret security clearance. The process includes a security interview, a polygraph, and a background investigation including credit verifications.
