To learn more about who we are and how you can help bring our brand to life, visit What Youll Do The Health & Safety Advisor will play a key role in supporting Discovery Co-ops ongoing commitment to a safe and healthy work environment across all business divisions. This position provides expert advice, leadership, and hands-on support to managers, supervisors, and team members in building a proactive safety culture. This includes ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, developing and maintaining safety programs and procedures, and fostering continuous improvement in our Health & Safety practices. Key Responsibilities Support Senior Leaders and Team Leaders in developing and maintaining Discovery Co-ops Safety Management System, policies, and procedures. Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, incident investigations, and follow-up on corrective actions. Support our Occupational Health Committees across multiple locations to ensure compliance with legislative requirements. Lead site inspections and audits; identify potential risks and recommend corrective measures. Deliver and facilitate Health & Safety training, including new hire orientation, Workplace Violence Prevention, and First Aid coordination. Maintain and update emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, and PPE standards. Prepare and distribute monthly and quarterly safety reports, analyzing trends and recommending improvements. Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and act as a liaison with external regulatory bodies. Stay current on emerging legislation, technologies, and best practices to strengthen Discovery Co-ops safety programs. Who You Are You are an organized, proactive, and safety-minded professional who thrives in a collaborative, service-oriented environment and posses the following requirements: Occupational Health & Safety Certificate or Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution. Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in a multi-site or retail environment. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Solid working knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements. Valid Class 5 drivers license with a reliable personal vehicle and satisfactory Drivers Abstract. Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills. Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Must be available for after-hours emergency support as required. The following certifications/designations are considered assets: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Current First Aid/CPR/AED - Level C, WHMIS, TDG, Forklift Operator, Power Mobile Equipment, and OHC Levels 1 & 2 (or a willingness to obtain).
