The role may support other UBC Sauder-led industry initiatives that support community building and knowledge sharing.The Manager, Business Development deepens and shares their knowledge around business careers in their allocated industry sectors, and shares industry connections with their team, career managers and students.Though predominately focused on employer relations, the work can include program management and some student facing activities.The Manager, Business Development will achieve results in three key areas of responsibility that align with the BCCs strategy and its critical success factors:1. This is an external facing position engaging with local, national and international employers and industry association representatives ranging from senior level executives (CEO, SVP, VP) to hiring managers to human resources employees. Field-based sales is a critical component of the role in both local, national and international markets. Within the Business Career Centre, works closely with other Business Development Managers and collaborates with Business Career Center employees, including the Assistant Dean, Associate Directors, Career Strategists, Program Managers, etc. Within UBC Sauder, interacts with faculty as well as the Business Development teams of multiple divisions including: Recruitment & Admissions of the Robert H. Lee Graduate School, the Development and Alumni Engagement office and Executive Education. Within UBC, interacts with UBCs Centre for Student Involvement & Careers and other faculty Co-op teams.**Work Performed**1. Personal and professional development:* Identifies and creates business co-op, internship and new graduate opportunities for students and corporate partners for in-class and capstone projects.* Conducts market analyses within industry sectors: identifies hiring trends for interns and new graduates, business skills requirements and future career opportunities.* Funnels employer feedback on competitive skills requirements to UBC Sauder program designers with the goal of influencing the curriculum that makes our students highly competitive in the marketplace.* Builds the Business Development and student coaching teams knowledge of careers in allocated industry sectors.* Participates in the development of business career resources.2. Access to business communities:* Enables opportunities to bring together employers and students for career exploration, networking and hiring.* Creates networking and recruiting connections for students through 1-1 introductions, employer participation recruiting events, company visits/tours, and relevant online forums.* Presents industry feedback to colleagues and faculty on how programming and other initiatives can build student talent pipeline for emerging job market opportunities.* Develops and executes annual business plans to drive employer recruitment growth as measured by key performance indicators for all student programs including MBA, BCom, BCom Co-op, MM, MM Dual, and MBAN students.* Develops and executes key employer account plans, developing ongoing and new relationships with multiple business units through client needs assessments, face-to-face company meetings, and integration of campus recruitment programs into their corporate recruitment strategy.* Maintains ongoing visible presence in the local market through in-person sales calls and execution of field sales campaigns as per the business plan in all markets.* Travels, as required, to key markets outside of BC (e.g., Toronto, Calgary, Seattle, New York) for in-person client meetings and accompanying visiting groups of students.* Lead generation activities including cold calling, group presentations, e-mail, business networking events, trade shows, career fairs and conferences.3.
