Direct message the job poster from MCNEILL HUMAN RESOURCES Overview Sr. Manager, Finance Client : Confidential Position Title: Sr. Manager, Finance Reports To: Chief Financial Officer Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Schedule: Monday Friday Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, Finance to lead and oversee all financial operations for our $50 million, 20-branch organization . The successful candidate will hold a CPA designation and bring 7-10 years of progressive operational finance and accounting leadership experience . This position is a key strategic role responsible for financial stewardship, compliance, reporting, and supporting the long-term success of the business. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Reporting Oversee all accounting functions including reporting, payroll, AP/AR, and compliance. Ensure adherence to Canadian IFRS, regulatory standards, and tax compliance. Coordinate external audits and maintain strong relationships with auditors and financial partners. Develop and enforce internal controls, financial policies, and process improvements. Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to ensure performance and growth. Oversee the completion of month end closing and internal financial statement preparation, with financial information prepared accurately, completely, and provided on a timely basis (target: by the 15th-20th of the following month). Ensure month end closes are completed in the accounting software and results transferred into the company financial statement system. Review monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and ensure clearance of undeposited funds, suspense accounts, and outstanding deposits/cheques in a timely manner. Manage invoice processing and payment reviews/approvals (including rent, vendors, warranties, bill payments, expenses, etc.). Complete supplier credit applications promptly. Ensure credit card usage is regularly reviewed and payments are made as necessary. Ensure monthly supplier reconciliations, GST, PST, income tax installments, source deductions, and all other government payments are completed, reviewed, and paid as required. Prepare and review daily cash reporting. Modify and adhere to the month end checklist to ensure internal controls and processes are followed; schedules tie into the general ledger and are complete. Oversee ERAC submission process. Provide support for the annual external financial statement audit and other audits, coordinating between auditors and internal stakeholders. Review payroll transactions, payroll-related journal entries, and reconciliations. Ensure daily bank recording occurs and issues are resolved. Operational Controls Provide a hands-on approach to the accounting team for monthly and other reporting processes. Ensure accounting and payroll follow consistent company processes/procedures and comply with accounting standards and statutory requirements. Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing and Sales on internal controls over financial reporting related to revenue, inventory and purchasing. Act on feedback from the accounting team to drive improvements. Bring new insights related to efficiencies, data analysis, and management. Communicate effectively and collaborate within the company and with external stakeholders. Coach management, sales and operations on accounting matters as required. Ensure effective liaison between operations, sales and Head Office. Manage, coach, and mentor accounting staff, including hiring and rotation when required. Required Qualifications As a corporate controller, you will bring the following qualifications to this opportunity: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field. Minimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting under IFRS. Proficiency with financial systems and advanced Excel skills. Experience in ERP implementation is a plus but not required. A positive attitude and a desire to grow.
