Unposting Date: 2026-02-02 11:59 PM Your Role CBC Ottawa is looking for a producer to join our audience engagement team working on video platforms later in the day. This is a full-time, permanent position. Under the direction of the senior producer, you will contribute to and determine the content lineups on various video platforms, both live and on-demand. You are part of a team tasked with moving a video strategy forward. Social media, AI and audience habits have challenged the industry and you are ready to help the team adapt to meet that challenge. You have a keen understanding of both horizontal and vertical video platforms, an understanding of both the pros and cons of AI and a knowledge of industry trends. You will be responsible for taking live broadcasts to air in the control room and manage livestreaming for other platforms and determine line-ups on the fly. You will package content and determine lineups for the FAST channel, YouTube and other video platforms. You will also be expected to play a key leadership role in live coverage and lineup management in the newsroom. You know your way around video editing, packaging and social media. You think outside the box and are not afraid to take chances. When you evaluate a reporters story pitch you consider all the video possibilities. You are familiar with the news cycle in Ottawa and surrounding areas and have experience in editorial vetting. Your Responsibilities Collaborate with the live producer to determine television news line-up Take CBC News at 6 to air (control room) As needed, program and manage live video coverage on a number of platforms Collaborate with all video platform reporters & hosts Edit and package video material for all video platforms Create playlists and determine lineups video platforms Assist and guide reporters on video storytelling Editorial vetting for all platforms Take part in daily editorial meetings Connect with assignment and resource teams daily Work with audio teams to create video projects As this is a new role, be prepared to adjust and adapt as it evolves Your Profile Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced news environment Experience in working in a live control room environment Skilled at basic video editing and packaging A proven work ethic and a positive attitude Strong editorial judgement and vetting skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills An understanding of the news landscape of Ottawa and region You regularly pitch ideas to the video platforms better You are familiar with YouTube, Tik Tok and FAST channels Ability to work a later shift and work overtime as required Must possess a valid Ontario drivers licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada''s insurance company, other classes considered an asset Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
