Job Description AECOM Canada ULC is actively seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Edmonton, AB. The successful candidate will design and analyze foundations, retaining structures, embankments, railways, highways, airports, excavation support systems, tunnels, and trenchless construction. This role offers the opportunity to work on major transportation, water resources, marine, civil infrastructure, and building projects while developing and growing our geotechnical practice in Western Canada. Work with diverse teams of engineers, designers, and drafters from conceptual design through preliminary and final design Mentor and train junior geotechnical engineers Manage projects and be responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance Resolve complex geotechnical issues Write, compile, and review geotechnical reports and proposals for major projects Prepare and present technical papers and contribute to advancement of earth science in our area of technical specialization Maintain quality throughout a project and implement improvements when determined Prepare project summary reports Encourage growth within the group and improve the general knowledge base throughout the company Develop and sustain longlasting business relationships with clients Be a role model and technical mentor for our staff Travel within Canada when required Qualifications B.Sc. (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering from a CEABaccredited institution +8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and/or demonstrated equivalency Registered professional engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta; registration in other provinces is an asset Valid drivers license with clean record Experience in client service and business development Strong understanding of finite element theory for soil and rock, including knowledge of advanced geotechnics as it relates to real soil behavior Advanced knowledge of models associated with seepage and consolidation Excellent verbal, written communication skills Proactive problemsolving skills and ability to maintain organization in a changing environment Experience with intrusive and nonintrusive field investigations, laboratory testing, and material characterization Experience with coupled and uncoupled seepage analysis, slope stability analysis, and deformation analysis Experience with liquefaction assessment and seismic engineering related to civil engineering projects is an asset Experience with conceptual, feasibility, preliminary, detailed design, construction, and site closure Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, independently and in a team Compensation The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
