Job Overview The overall objective of the Linde Sarnia Instrumentation Technician is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the air separation production plants electronic and instrumentation equipment. The Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for safe work practices, instrumentation and electronic repair or replacement. They will have a key role in making technical decisions and recommendations as required. Key Responsibilities Ensure safe work practices using proper permit procedures. Provide technical expertise in consultation with engineering resources as needed. Enter and maintain accurate records using CMMS programs (Procal & EAM). Supervise electrical and instrumentation contractors when on site. Ensure optimal execution of outage planning process. Drive resolution of highest impact issues with a strong sense of urgency and integrity. Act as a key contact with OEM vendors and suppliers. Qualifications Recognized formal college Instrumentation certificate. Canadian Red Seal certificate. Proven experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment including PLCs and I/P controllers. Experience troubleshooting pipeline communications equipment, including radio communications equipment. Experience navigating and using plant programs like ladder logic for diagnosis. Selfstarter who can effectively manage multiple tasks. Minimum 5 years experience in an industrial environment. Experience using a Fluke calibrating unit. Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft applications. Ability to read and understand vendor manuals, technical drawings and wiring schematics. Can set up and maintain a spare part inventory control system. Understanding of air separation processes. Timely completion of assigned tasks and reporting. Capability of learning and completing Management of Change documentation and procedures. Experience writing permits and in lockout/tagout procedures. Valid clean driving license. Ability to respond to callins during off hours to troubleshoot and repair breakdowns.
