We are looking for a Tax and Accounting Manager to join our dedicated and growing team in Toronto. If you are a self-starter, interested in gaining a broad-based experience on a wide variety of projects including M&A, tax compliance, reorganizations, tax planning, and accounting and seek to further your career working with a new work family focused on collaboration and learning, we would like to talk to you. Primary Responsibilities Leverage firm technology tools including various cloud-based technologies and tax and accounting knowledge to execute M&A, tax consulting and compliance, and accounting and bookkeeping projects with an approach that is different from traditional accounting firms; Expand your knowledge and gain breadth of experience working directly with the owner with over 35 years of tax experience, to help clients solve their tax issues, develop tax strategies to minimize overall tax, and support the delivery of tax consulting projects; Establish relationships with clients, gain a solid understanding of their business, and use your strong communication skills to manage the client needs and deliver client value through a wide variety of projects; Coach and mentor the tax and accounting associates working together to complete projects to meet client needs; Prepare/review draft technical memos, instructions to legal counsel and clients to execute tax planning ideas and reorganizations; and Proactively deliver tax insights to clients using various data analytic tools. Experience Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience in a tax at a professional services firm or in industry providing tax and accounting services; Bachelors degree in accounting from College or University; Professional accounting designation and completion/enrolled in the CPA Canadas Indepth Tax Course; Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel with power query, Powerpoint), CCH Taxprep, Accounting software including Quickbooks/Xero; Excellent written and oral communication skills and client management skills. You are A great communicator, confident, clear and professional in both writing and conversation; Clients trust you, and teammates love collaborating with you; Organized & efficient and able to juggle clients and tasks without dropping a beat; Proactive, motivated, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small dedicated team; Techsavvy, learn new software quickly and are adaptable to new processes and technologies to work; Strong in accounting with experience in cloud based systems Xero is a big plus.
