Description We''re hiring a Sub Arc Operator at CESSCO Fabrication & Engineering in Edmonton, AB. Sub arc operators are required to weld with both AC/DC procedures as well as overlay procedures, be proficient in the set up and operation of sub arc equipment, and be able to work at heights and operate overhead cranes. As such, part of your responsibilities in this role include ensuring you are trained in, follow, and support enforcement of safety programs governing activities in all fabrication shops. You must be able to interpret and apply safety and other internal policies to any situation as well as handle working in an industrial environment. Being able to think and react quickly in a highly dynamic environment and multitask while remaining highly organized is critical. You must have a High School Diploma for this positions as well as trade certification in Welding or an ABSA machine operator''s ticket. Your ability to read and interpret drawings and procedural documents as well as communicate concepts and plans effectively with others is critical. That includes the ability to sketch basic images, apply algebra and geometry, and speak effectively. There is a physical component to this position that requires manual dexterity and the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Frequent climbing, bending, stooping, and crawling is also a part of this job. You will need the visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents as well as the hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli. You will also need to be able to lift and exert force of up to 10 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally. This position is part of our Production department and reports to the Production supervisor. You will be eligible for benefits after 90 days of work. The position has a $40- $42 hourly wage and has a standard 40-hours of work per week and includes both dayshifts and nightshifts. Duties Essential Responsibilities Ensure you are trained in, follow and support enforcement of safety programs governing activities in all fabrication shops. Ensure the correct application of welding specifications and tolerances to all shop fabrications. Ensure knowledge of the correct consumable, flux, preheat and other information as required prior to commencing any welding operations Ensure weld size, quality and required markings (STAMPING) are applied to all completedor partially completed welds. Immediately report any defective equipment or safety condition to a supervisor including those which are quickly and easily corrected by them. Immediately reports any issues with welding consumables. Ensure you work area is tidy before and after your tasks. Perform additional assignments per supervisor''s direction. Supervisory Responsibilities May occasionally provide direction and supervision to apprentices as directed. Is obligated to observe and act on Safety. Qualifications The position requires trade certification in Welding and/or an ABSA machine operator''s Ticket. Essential qualifications includes a sound knowledge base in drawing interpretation, specification reading, interpretation and application and includes a background in all welding processes, material handling, forming, burning, rigging, layout and fitting operations as a minimum. The position requires ongoing training and qualification with CESSCO welding procedures, safety policies, quality control, productivity, and other as required. Skills Required and/or Developed Ability to read and interpret drawings and documents such as welding procedures, standards and specifications, purchase orders, terms and conditions and other documents related to fabrication requirements. Ability to interpret and apply safety and other internal policies to any situation. Ability to speak effectively to clients, inspectors, and production team members. Other levels of certification may be permitted on a case by case basis IE; ''C'' pressure. Performance qualifications (current or previous) in most welding processes. Additional Info Work Environment The working environment is heavy industrial. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with frequent exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and all types of weather and temperature conditions. The employee is routinely required to work in confined spaces, at heights and in extreme temperature conditions. Wearing and use of proper personal protective equipment is required.
