Position: Production Scheduler Location: Ajax, Ontario Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Production Scheduler to join our Operations team. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the daily and weekly production schedule to ensure on-time delivery, efficient use of resources, and smooth coordination between engineering, production, purchasing, and shipping. The production scheduler plays a critical role in aligning shop floor priorities with customer commitments and operational capacity. Role / Responsibilities: Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and long-term production schedules based on order priority, capacity, material availability, and delivery commitments. Actively coordinate with the Plant Manager, Production team, and Operations team to establish production priorities and track all jobs through each stage of production. Track job progress through all production stages and proactively identify scheduling risks or delays. Monitor material availability and coordinate with Purchasing to prevent production interruptions due to shortages. Adjust schedules in real time to accommodate urgent orders, equipment downtime, or capacity changes. Maintain accurate production status reporting and schedule visibility using internal tracking systems and tools. Participate in production meetings to review progress, bottlenecks, and upcoming priorities. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production flow, lead times, and scheduling efficiency. Knowledge and Requirement: Background in manufacturing, operations, engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or manufacturing coordination. Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing workflows (sheet metal, welding, assembly preferred). Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across departments and shop floor teams. Proficient with scheduling tools, spreadsheets, and ERP or production tracking systems. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
