We are currently looking for a Calgary, AB based Quality Control Technician to be part of our Manufacturing team.This role will be responsible for performing the final Quality Control inspections of manufactured parts, to ensure adherence to quality standards. This position will work with a variety of industry and measurement tools and processes to ensure quality parts are being delivered as per drawing specifications. Core Responsibilities Conducts incoming inspections of manufactured parts, products, and sub assemblies while documenting each inspection. Uses standard quality control equipment to conduct inspections as required. Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and or returning unacceptable product. Initiates non-conformance reports on all parts and assemblies that are not to drawing specifications. Initiates corrective action requests when conditions adverse to quality are or become repetitive in nature. Documents inspection results by completing reports and suggesting possible re-work if applicable. Inputs data into QC database tracked by vendor, part count and purchase order count. Creates awareness of orders, organizes, schedules for source inspections at vendor facilities. Creates equipment calibration schedule and ensures equipment in is kept within specified calibration date as per QMS specification. Has prior knowledge of QC tools and maintains equipment when required. May be required to travel to machine shops to conduct in-process or final inspections or count inventory as required. Acts as a point of contact for answering quality related questions. Perform internal audits and aids in other types of audits as required. Promote a safe work environment for all employees and strives for continual improvement. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Is a self starter, shows initiative, seeks increased responsibilities and asks for help when needed. Ensures QC department is continuously maintained keeping equipment in working order Maintains high level of organization in QC departments paperwork and housekeeping. Other duties as assigned from time to time. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and skills in the application of standard QC equipment including CMM operation Able to operate a counterbalanced forklift (training can be provided). Mechanical aptitude. Ability to read blueprints, drawings, MTRs and supplier certification(s). Previous knowledge of control of non-conforming product. Skilled in Microsoft Office suite of products. Prior oilfield experience preferably with downhole tools and connections. ISO/API and ERP knowledge. Strong organizational, time management and communication skills. Thorough, with consistent attention to detail; Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate effectively with the full cross-section of personnel within Kobold. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED. Quality auditing experience is an asset. Technical or other post-secondary degree training. 2 years of experience in machining or quality dimensional inspection. CMM and Quality Assurance experience is an asset.
