This role is split between approximately 70% general accounting and 30% payroll, working closely with senior accounting staff, Human Resources, and external partners to maintain accurate financial records, support period-end close, and ensure payroll compliance. What You''ll Do General Accounting Complete monthly bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances in a timely manner Prepare GST and PST returns for review, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable legislation Perform period-end reconciliations for various general ledger accounts to support month-end and year-end close Process accounts receivable transactions, including: Entering customer invoices Recording and applying customer payments Preparing and distributing weekly AR reports Reconcile and process credit card transactions for 60+ cardholders, ensuring appropriate coding, documentation, and policy compliance Prepare job cost adjustments for review, including analysis of cost allocations and supporting documentation Maintain organized and complete working papers to support reconciliations, audits, and statutory filings Assist with internal audits, external audits, and ad-hoc accounting requests as required Payroll Processing and Compliance Process full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll legislation, including taxation, benefits, and reporting requirements Prepare and submit payroll-related remittances, including tax filings, WCB, and employee RRSP and TFSA program reporting Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, payroll registers, and year-end documentation Prepare payroll reports such as earnings summaries, deductions, and labour analysis for management review Support the implementation and optimization of payroll systems and automation tools Complete year-end payroll activities, including WCB annual returns, T4s, and related tax filings Employee Support and Communication Respond promptly to payroll-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure accurate onboarding and offboarding related to payroll Act as the internal subject matter expert for payroll-related questions Communicate payroll policy and process changes clearly and effectively Create and maintain payroll calendars and employee pay schedules What You''ll Bring Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and accounts receivable processes Experience preparing GST and PST returns Solid knowledge of payroll systems, processes, and compliance requirements Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High level of discretion and ability to manage confidential information Proficiency in accounting and payroll systems and financial reporting tools What We Bring Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
