Qualifications Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario. Current certification in BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrollment in a recertification course; you will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer. Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (e.g., previous Cardio Concepts QH), or willingness to register for an eligible course within and complete it within 6 months of commencement of position (or mutually agreed upon dates). Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis available to review). Responsibilities Administer total patient care for a group of patients, evaluating patient outcomes in a manner consistent with independent nursing functions. Collaborate and implement care plans with members of the interdisciplinary team, including assessment, treatment, coaching, and education. Safely perform acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills, and judgment in assessing health needs and in planning, administering, and evaluating patient care. Adapt adhere to the values of QH while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience. Maintain nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards. Practice in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards, and best practices within the nursing profession. Accountable for maintaining professional competence by completing annual education and seeking out education to enhance/improve practice. Report pertinent information to other members of the health care team. Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills to assume the role of an in charge nurse. Practice within the scope of professional, legal, and ethical standards. Participate in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives. Adhere to a safe and healthy workplace and maintain a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards, and adherence to health and safety related policy and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Analysis Strength Required Occasionally lifting and carrying average weight 20 pounds and max 50, pushing/pulling average 1015 pounds and max 30 pounds, patient assist approx. 100 pounds. Mobility Required Constantly standing. Required Frequently walking, bending/stooping. Required Occasionally sitting, twisting/turning, bending, crouching/squatting, kneeling. Required Rarely balancing, climbing. Dexterity Required Frequently forward shoulder movements, gripping/grasping, pinching, neck, elbow, shoulder, wrist and back normal range of motion. Required Occasionally fine finger movements, shoulder movements (up/down). Required Rarely foot action.
