Job Description Accountabilities Team Lead: Participate in the orientation and training of new staff Monitor program expenditures Record and report activities, behaviors and any incidents which occur during the shift Keep accurate documentation as to program vehicle usage and maintenance Ensure facility is kept in accordance with agency policies and procedures and the Department of Families requirements Manage member funds and ensure recording of purchases under the direction of the Director of Day Services Assist the Director of Day Services in developing an agenda Familiarize and inform staff of agency policies and procedures; support, and implement and guide others in the application into daily tasks As required and applicable, make suggestions that will improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures to Director of Day Services Safety: Monitor health and safety processes to ensure processes, standards, and guidelines are followed; ensure safety by compliance with rules and regulations including emergency evacuation procedures, vehicle usage, transportation of members, working alone, food, medications and equipment, storage and maintenance Provide crisis intervention for members as required. Conduct checks to ensure the safety of the facility and members throughout their shifts Understand and promote members rights and responsibilities Provide transportation to and from various locations with safe driving skills; follow all traffic laws defensively Report personnel and member concerns promptly to Director of Day Services Promote proper lifting, twisting, and reaching techniques during job performance; use PPE as required Health and Medical: Ensure individual health and medical needs are attended to in a timely fashion including personal care where needed, and that all medication is properly administered and recorded (where applicable) Recognize and report concerns of abuse or neglect Provide emotional support for members as required Person Centred Plans: Be involved in implementing and monitoring individual plans; assist in pre-planning to gather information on goals and outcomes and maintain relationships with other agencies Individual Personal Development: Encourage participation in daily activities, employment and community; reinforce expectations, personal hygiene, meal preparation, grocery shopping, laundry and facility care Ensure the environment is supportive, nurturing and encourages member involvement and decision making Model appropriate behaviour and attitude supporting growth and independence Public Relations and Communication: Ensure wise use of resources; develop opportunities for family and community engagement; assist individuals to develop positive social interactions; maintain courteous and professional contact Treat all members and staff with respect and dignity Administration & Finance: Complete program inventories; ensure records and documentation are secure and in line with policies and requirements; perform housekeeping duties and report maintenance issues Program Development: Assist the Director in creating, managing and facilitating activities, events and spiritual care programs as per member interest and ability; promote social interaction and development; ensure documentation is completed for assigned activities Other duties as required Critical Relationship Management Governance Boards and Councils : None Internal Community Venture personnel from senior management to front line External External community contacts Member family and care provider supports Pre-vocational and volunteer agency contacts Community Living disABILITY Services personnel Education and health professional resources Managerial/Technical Leadership Responsibility Reports directly to the Director of Day Services Serves as Team Lead for the Day Service Facilitators by providing day-to-day direction, guidance, workflow supervision, conflict resolution and employee support under supervision Participates in orientation and training for new staff; contributes feedback and supports team development Participates in staff meetings and training opportunities Suggests improvements to efficiency and procedures as applicable Financial And Materials Management Contributes to wise use of member and program resources May be authorized to spend, disburse, or collect small amounts of cash; monitors and reports team expenditures and vehicle usage/maintenance; manages records and documentation Working Conditions Day program facility with a mix of office work and off-site meetings Potential relocation to another location as needed Significant amounts of work involving members in the community May involve dealing with verbal abuse or difficult individuals Overnight or out-of-town travel not typically expected Moderate exposure to hazards (cleaning supplies, waste, bodily fluids, sharp objects, etc.) Potential exposure to hazards (physical aggression, traffic incidents) Possible exposure to infectious diseases, chemicals, emergency situations Education And Experience Qualifications Education, Qualifications and Certifications Community College diploma/degree in health or social services, or related experience in a community-based facility, preferably in disabilities Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements At least two years experience in developmental services Valid Manitoba Class V driver license and access to a personal vehicle Criminal record check Child Abuse Registry check Adult Abuse Registry check Skills And Capabilities Keyboarding and records maintenance Moderate physical care responsibilities including transfers Moderate lifting and moving of items Frequent standing, sitting, walking, reaching Light housekeeping and property maintenance Occasional use of physical behaviour intervention techniques Attentive listening and reading body language Monitoring of environment Strong reading, writing, arithmetic and computer skills Memory, concentration, reasoning and judgment Creativity and problem-solving Ability to understand members needs; multi-tasking Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent interpersonal skills; fluent English Physical ability to lift/carry up to 40 pounds Commitment to The Salvation Armys Mission, Vision and Values Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $20.32 to $25.40 with a maximum of $30.48. Placement in the salary range will be based on market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
