Environmental & Regulatory Planner WSP in Canada seeks an Environmental & Regulatory Planner to join a team shaping transportation and municipal environments across Alberta and Saskatchewan. As an Environmental and Regulatory Planner, youll contribute to projects that protect ecosystems, support sustainable infrastructure, and create lasting benefits for communities. As an Environmental and Regulatory Planner, youll contribute to projects that protect ecosystems, support sustainable infrastructure, and create lasting benefits for communities. Your Impact Deliver environmental and regulatory planning expertise for transportation and municipal projects across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Lead permitting processes and ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation, including Alberta Water Act and Fisheries Act. Prepare wetland assessments and classifications under the Alberta Wetland Policy, applying ABWRET methodologies. Coordinate and conduct ecological field programs, including vegetation, soil, and wetland surveys, with opportunities to support fisheries and wildlife studies. Develop high-quality proposals and reports that influence project decisions and outcomes. Mentor junior team members, fostering growth and knowledgesharing within the Environmental Impact Assessment & Permitting group. Collaborate with senior technical leads and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions. The Skills That Set You Apart Degree in Biology or related discipline (B.Sc.) or Technical Diploma with relevant experience. Practical understanding of Albertas environmental legislation and permitting processes; familiarity with municipal, provincial, and federal regulatory frameworks. Experience with wetland delineation, classification, and ABWRET assessments. Comfortable leading field programs and applying ecological data collection techniques. Eligibility for professional registration (e.g., P.Biol., P.Ag., R.T.Biol.) and designation as an Authenticating Professional for wetlands is an asset. Skilled in preparing proposals, managing budgets, and supervising contract delivery. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; GIS experience (ArcGIS) considered an asset.
