Job Description

$75-80/K Responsibilities Support in the process of monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close, including preparing and booking of journal entries, monthly reporting requirements, and financial analysis Monthly reporting file submission and validation to financial reporting system, by the reporting deadlines, which includes obtaining correct and timely information and schedules Liaise with Accounting regarding monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting issues and queries as they arise, technical accounting matters, as well as completion of ad-hoc reporting items throughout the year Co-ordinate appropriate and timely responses to special requests for information and reports from Accounting Group Research and analyze IFRS accounting issues, offer sound accounting advice to the business, and prepare thorough IFRS Position Papers for internal use and for external auditors (when required) Responsible for ensuring that the accounting treatment of all transactions are in accordance with IFRS and the Accounting Handbook Maintain communication with Client Group Accounting on any accounting changes to current or new processes Collaborates with the entity leadership team to understand business needs and the overall activity in the financial statements, ensure business objectives are compliant with IFRS, and assist with reporting requirements through alignment of reporting for the respective systems. Completion of general ledger & sub-ledger account reconciliations with prompt follow up and resolution of outstanding reconciling items. When required, manage financial statement audits by coordinating the list of audit deliverables, liaising with external auditors on significant accounting issues, and ensuring audit reporting timelines are met. Review and support flux preparation and analysis. Support the corporate tax team with ad hoc requests needed to complete their filings. Co-ordinate with (clients) Group Accounting in the implementation of reporting system upgrades and changes. Support all relevant functions within accounting services (such as accounts payable and affiliate accounting); determining how each areas unique issues impact financial reporting and as special requirements are needed Preparation of year-end stand-alone financial statements in accordance with IFRS including note disclosures by the prescribed deadlines. Maintain appropriate working papers and schedules as required by external auditors, as well as provide thorough explanations, analyses, and responses to audit queries. Maintain and test internal control documentation (process narrative/map, control matrixes) as well as desk procedures for all core duties. Qualifications (Skills, Experiences & Education) Education Required: Bachelors Degree Major in Accounting Years of Relevant Experience Required: 3+ Intermediate to advanced understanding of MS Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Written, oral and presentation to document, articulate and convey functions and processes Analytical skills ability to dissect complex accounting and financial processes and identify risks and process improvements Excellent organizational skills Works well under daily and monthly deadlines Ability to respond quickly to a changing environment Team player and customer focused Strong business acumen understanding of large complex organizations and ability to interact with all levels of an organization Experience and exposure with IFRS and development/review of full financial statements including notes Experience with issuance and accounting for bonds and other financial instruments including derivatives (commercial paper, cross-currency swaps, interest rate swaps etc.) Completed or progress towards CPA designation #J-18808-Ljbffr
