Reporting to the Regional Controller, the Project Accountant will play a key role in supporting Volker Stevin Construction project teams by managing the financial and accounting aspects of individual projects. This includes monitoring job costs, assisting with creating financial forecasts, processing bills and payment and ensuring compliance with contract terms, and providing financial reporting and analysis to help keep projects on budget and profitable. We have a need for a Project Accountant in both, Lethbridge and Grande Prairie. How Youll Add Value Partner with project teams to set up new projects in the D365 accounting system, establishing cost codes or job structures, and uploading contract data. Work closely with project managers to monitor all project costs; including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overheads and compare actuals to budgets and forecasts. Collaborate with estimators and project managers to develop realistic budgets, define cost codes, and support effective costcontrol processes. Coordinate with project teams to process invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payment requests, ensuring accurate cost allocation and timely entry into the accounting system. Maintain open communication with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and vendors to review financial status, resolve cost issues, and support informed decisionmaking. Partner with project managers to manage revenue and billing activities, including billings, subcontractor approvals, change orders, potential change items, and cost breakdown Prepare and share forecasts, cashflow projections, jobcost reports, variance analyses, and project profitability reports to help teams make proactive financial decisions. Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company accounting policies, and revenue recognition standards through collaboration with internal and external teams. Support finance and project teams during monthend and yearend close processes, audits, job closeouts, and related adjustments. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by enhancing project accounting processes, standardizing reporting formats, and implementing effective costcontrol measures. Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to support operational and project needs. What You Bring A recognized accounting designation (CPA, or equivalent) is required. Minimum 2 years of post-designation experience in a professional environment. A relevant business degree in accounting or finance is essential. Prior experience working in a construction or operationsbased company is required Strong skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
