Description As an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), you will assess emergency scenes and patients and may transport ill or injured patients between emergency scenes and facilities. You will operate ambulances or other transportation modes, administer medications, use advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts and electrical therapy, and may lead the ALS crew in delivering clinical care during transport or at scenes. You will assist with ensuring ambulances or other EMS vehicles are properly stocked and equipped. The working environment is demanding and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, moving traffic, and industrial or agricultural equipment. Travel in all weather and to remote locations is required, with exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and bodily fluids. The role is physically demanding, including frequent lifting and carrying up to 105 lbs, kneeling, bending, twisting, and side-carrying up to 20 lbs per hand. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) certification. Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent and a five-year driver abstract current within six months with no more than six demerits prior to commencing work. Proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via Lifemark certificate if not currently in an AHS EMS clinical position; test must be completed within six months prior to application. Lifemark verification may be performed by Alberta Health Services EMS. Applicants must be qualified to perform full operational duties as of start date. Preferred Qualifications Preference given to applicants with EMS experience in metro, suburban, rural, or interfacility settings and in other healthcare or public safety areas. Completion of additional post-secondary programs is an asset and may be considered during the selection process. Applicants must provide proof of post-secondary credentials during evaluation.
