Your Opportunity BDO Canada LLP is looking for a Consultant, Risk Advisory Services to join BDOs Risk Advisory team in Ottawa. Overview Of The Opportunity Our Risk Advisory team tackles significant issues facing organizations today. We help clients understand emerging risks and their potential impact on business operations, while exploring ways to turn these challenges into opportunities. This role offers exposure to a broad spectrum of consulting engagements, including program evaluations, Indigenous-focused initiatives, internal audits, IT transformation reviews, enterprise risk management, and accessibility planning. Each engagement provides learning opportunities in a dynamic environment. Youll analyze trends across business, risk, legal, environmental, social, and governance landscapes, and collaborate with clients to develop strategies that drive resilience and growth. This is a net new role and responsibilities will include the following: Assessing climate change risks on affordable housing. Identifying global best practices in social innovation to support Canadas arts sector. Developing risk strategies for multi-billion-dollar federal programs serving Indigenous communities. Reviewing major IT transformation initiatives to ensure successful implementation. Creating multi-year accessibility plans for public and private sector organizations. Developing risk-based audit plans to guide multi-year assurance programs. Auditing human resource frameworks to support workforce planning and retention. Supporting capacity-building strategies for Indigenous governments and service providers. Reviewing contract management processes to strengthen compliance and reduce risk. Assessing cybersecurity controls to safeguard critical government systems. Designing governance frameworks to strengthen Indigenous-led organizations. Analyzing internal controls over financial reporting for Crown corporations. Developing training frameworks to embed accessibility principles across organizations. Assessing funding models to improve sustainability for Indigenous economic development initiatives. Your Responsibilities Support client engagements in internal audit, enterprise risk management, internal controls design and assessment, program evaluation, independent third-party reviews, business process improvement or redesign, and IT general and application controls assessments. Review, document, evaluate, and test business processes and internal controls to ensure effective design and operation across diverse environments and industries. Develop client deliverables that include risk assessments, detailed analyses, actionable recommendations, and clear reporting documentation. Collaborate with engagement teams to establish timelines, monitor progress, and maintain high-quality client service through consistent communication with managers and team members. Drive innovation in service delivery by identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring work aligns with the firms quality and risk management standards. Assist team with business development initiatives, including preparing proposals for new and existing clients. Contribute to the development and refresh of methodologies for current and emerging solutions and services. Maintain a proactive and logical approach to gathering information and present complex ideas clearly. Apply strong project management skills, collaborate with team members, and leverage technology to enhance quality and efficiency of deliverables. Solicit and incorporate feedback from team members to improve future engagements. Build positive working relationships with clients and identify opportunities for improvement in future assignments. Your Experience And Education You have completed a relevant post-secondary program or degree/diploma. You have completed or are pursuing a professional designation (CPA, CIA, CISA, CE, etc.). You have 02 years of experience in risk advisory, consulting, internal audit, or evaluation settings. You have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. You have the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. You have or qualify to obtain Government of Canada security clearance. Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset.
