Ticketed Diesel Mechanic Jasper, Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield Fulltime position located in Jasper National Park, Alberta. Maligne Lake operations (MarchNovember) and Columbia Icefield Jasper Townsite Maintenance Shop (NovemberMarch). As a diesel mechanic in this multifaced role, you will support the mechanical fitness and safe operations of all power systems onsite: marine (9 dieselpowered cruise boats), onsite power generation and ground fleet (staff shuttle buses). This role also provides general maintenance support for onsite facilities, working with our facilities manager. During the winter season this role supports the Columbia Icefield mechanics team in preseasonal readiness maintenance, ensuring the mechanical fitness of motorcoaches, heavy equipment and 21 unique Ice Explorers. Roles & Responsibilities Safety first: follow proper safety procedures. Work with Fleet Maintenance Manager and lead marine mechanic to complete preseasonal maintenance on all cruise boats. Perform preventative maintenance on cruise boats during season to support uptime. Maintain onsite diesel power plant generators. Diagnose equipment problems, determine repairs, adjust equipment, repair or replace defective parts on various onsite equipment. Test repaired equipment for proper performance. Maintain clean and tidy work area; assist with general cleaning duties. Use Limble maintenance platform for work order assignment, parts management and recordkeeping. Complete all preoperations daily mechanical checks on operating cruise vessels as assigned, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada Marine safety management system. Continuously improve maintenance operations, reduce downtime, improve processes. Support colleagues, demonstrating teamwork to achieve seasonal business goals. Coach and serve as subjectmatter expert to boat operations team; explain vessel mechanics and troubleshooting best practices. Complete preseasonal work order maintenance on motor coaches, ice explorers and heavy equipment during Columbia Icefield winter operations. Support apprentices on the Icefield maintenance team in learning and completing work orders. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Qualifications Valid Alberta (or interprovincial) Singleticketed or above diesel mechanic journeyman certification. Prior marine mechanical operations and/or experience with Mercury diesel engines. Upon hire committed to attaining applicable boat operations certifications (training provided on site). Columbia Icefield experience troubleshooting and diagnostics on Detroit Diesel, CAT, MTU, and Allison engines/transmissions. Knowledge of MCI & Prevost highway coaches. Class 5 drivers licence; Class 1, 2 or 3 drivers licence with airbrake (Q) endorsement. Ability to supply own tools up to and impact drives. Positive attitude, problemsolving skills, ability to think outside the box. Mature, energetic, dependable, selfmotivated. Enjoy working outdoors in challenging mountain weather conditions. Standard FirstAid or higher. Comfortable working on feet for extended periods in an outdoor environment.
