They are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team and contribute to the tax, compilation, and client advisory services. This is a key role designed for a CPA who is ready to assume increased responsibility and advance towards a managerial position. Role Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation and review of corporate and personal tax filings, completion of compilation engagements, client advisory support, and the supervision of junior staff. Key Responsibilities Tax Return Preparation and Review: Preparation and in-depth review of complex Canadian corporate (T2) and personal (T1) income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax legislation. Staff Mentorship and Supervision: Directly oversee and mentor junior accounting staff, reviewing their work and providing ongoing coaching and development in tax and accounting procedures. Notice to Reader Engagements: Efficiently manage and prepare Notice to Reader (Compilation) engagements, ensuring timely and accurate financial statement preparation. Audit Support: Apply your audit experience to assist with various client assurance engagements as needed, providing support and file preparation expertise. File Preparation and Quality Control: Manage and finalize complete working paper files for all tax and compilation engagements, maintaining high-quality documentation standards. Client Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing complex tax questions and providing planning advice. Qualifications and Experience Professional Designation: Must hold a valid Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a Canadian public accounting environment is strongly preferred. Tax Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience processing and reviewing both T1 and T2 tax returns and compilation engagements Audit Background: Proven experience performing or supporting financial statement audit and review engagements is required. Leadership Skills: Previous experience in a supervisory or mentorship role is a significant asset.
