Network Engineer L2 Position Summary We are seeking a Network Engineer L2 to support and maintain enterprise network environments for key clients. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, troubleshooting, and enhancement of network infrastructure, working within established architectures and standards. The ideal candidate has a solid networking foundation with hands-on experience supporting LAN/WAN, firewalls, wireless, and cloud-connected environments. This role serves as an escalation point from L1 and collaborates closely with senior engineers on complex initiatives, but is not an architecture-owner or primary design authority. Key Responsibilities Support, configure, and maintain enterprise network environments (LAN/WAN/SD-WAN). Administer network devices including switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and WAN circuits. Troubleshoot and resolve Tier II network incidents and performance issues. Serve as an escalation point for L1 network support tickets. Assist with firewall rule changes, VPN configurations, and network segmentation. Support cloud-connected networking environments (Azure/GCP preferred). Monitor network health using established monitoring and alerting tools. Participate in network upgrades, migrations, and maintenance windows. Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Collaborate with senior engineers on complex network changes and projects. Respond to service requests and restorations related to customer network environments. Technical Skills & Knowledge Core networking fundamentals: IP addressing, VLANs, routing, switching. Network hardware experience with Cisco and equivalent vendors (switches, firewalls, wireless). Firewall platforms such as Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet. Wireless networking platforms (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Juniper, Ubiquiti). WAN technologies including SD-WAN, MPLS, and site-to-site VPNs. Basic cloud networking concepts (Azure or Google Cloud). Familiarity with VoIP and Unified Communications (CUCM, SIP). Network monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds, Meraki Dashboard, Cisco Prime). Working knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and network security best practices. Required Experience & Education 35 years of experience in IT infrastructure or network support. 23 years focused on hands-on network administration or engineering. Cisco networking experience (minimum 2 years). Experience supporting SD-WAN, VPNs, and enterprise WAN environments. Exposure to API integrations and network automation tools is a plus. Experience with network/security monitoring tools such as Splunk, Auvik, or Qualys is beneficial. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred). Certifications & Licenses CCNA required or strongly preferred Higher-level Cisco or vendor certifications are a plus Cybersecurity certifications are beneficial Must be able to obtain CJIS and TLETS certifications Soft Skills Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills Clear and professional written and verbal communication Ability to work independently in a remote environment Team-oriented with willingness to learn from senior engineers Organized and able to manage multiple support priorities
