Position Overview: Working closely with the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager is responsible for projects from receipt of purchase order through final installation and final customer site acceptance. This is achieved by providing critical leadership to the project, ensuring detailed project plans are developed and in place, daily/weekly/monthly measurement of projects progress to plan, effective interaction with customers, stakeholders, and internal reporting of the projects progress. Key Accountabilities: Support project delivery by assisting the Project Manager in achieving customer and company targets for cost, quality, schedule and HSE requirements. Assist with team coordination by helping organize and communicate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external partners to ensure project tasks are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with all applicable codes and standards. Support customer communication by preparing correspondence, attending meetings with the Project Manager, and helping document key project events, decisions, and issues to maintain strong customer satisfaction. Assist in managing project risk by helping identify potential risks, contributing to mitigation plan(s). And supporting project planning activities such as preparing budgets, gathering labor and material estimates, and helping track long-lead procurement items. Monitor all critical path items by assisting in tracking material deliveries, expediting orders when needed, helping find approved substitutes if possible/permitted, support the development and maintenance of the project schedule and critical path activities. Help prepare project plans by gathering relevant information, organizing documentation, and supporting the Project Manager during initial build planning meetings. Support resource management by helping coordinate manpower, equipment and material requirements, and assisting in ensuring resources are aligned with project tasks Assist with financial management by helping prepare financial forecasts, updating cost tracking spreadsheets, collecting data for reports, and escalating financial issues or discrepancies to the Project Manager or Director of Operations as required. Support Management Reporting: Assist in team communications meetings by preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, updating status reports on a regular basis. Attend the project status meeting as required by Director Operations Assist with Project Change Management by tracking all contract changes and preparing CCRs (Customer Change Requests). Ensure customer caused/requested changes are executed by the team only after receipt of customer agreement. Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Fero Code of Business Conduct. Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager to meet the ongoing needs of the project(s). Qualifications: Post- secondary college diploma, engineering / construction related diploma or degree, Completion of or in the process of achieving the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset. Engineering experience in the manufacturing industry relating to commercial or healthcare buildings. Experience with modular construction is an asset. Must have a practical working knowledge of construction, experience with building codes and applicable federal and provincial regulations. Must have a proven track record of coordinating multi-disciplined project design and construction teams. Must have acted in a lead or supporting role with a minimum of three years experience in a variety of projects/markets on a multidiscipline team with exposure to minimum of (individual size) ~ $3M projects. Demonstrated knowledge and an understanding of the OHSA Strong technical aptitude, with knowledge of MS Office applications (including Dynamics 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word) as well as VDC software. Other Requirements: Ability to travel to customer and supplier locations as required. Participate pro-actively in the continuous improvement process. Strong presentation, problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work effectively with customers according to deadlines and under pressure-filled conditions is essential.
