Intermediate Estimator Commercial Construction A reputable general contractor is seeking an Intermediate Estimator to support the preparation of accurate, competitive bids across commercial and institutional projects. The role involves quantity takeoffs, subcontractor coordination, and assembling budgets for both hard-bid and constructionmanagement pursuits. Key Responsibilities Review drawings/specs and set up estimates in digital takeoff software. Complete detailed quantity takeoffs for architectural, structural, civil/earthworks, and general scopes. Coordinate with subcontractorsinvite to tender, gather pricing, review scopes, and evaluate quotations. Maintain prequalification documents and vendor/subtrade databases. Input takeoff data into estimating platforms and prepare internal scope sheets. Support development of general requirements, risk allowances, and contingencies. Prepare estimates and budgets for leadership review; assist with CM/DB proposals. Participate in project handovers and support early procurement/buyout. Prepare clientfacing budget reports and assist with conceptual or orderofmagnitude pricing. Conduct site visits for prebid walkthroughs and collaborate with consultants during design phases. Perform value engineering and maintain accurate cost histories. Qualifications 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial or institutional construction. Strong ability to read drawings and interpret specifications. Proficiency with takeoff/estimating software (e.g., OST, Sage/Timberline, InSite) and Microsoft Office. Solid understanding of subcontractor scopes and construction methods. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines. Postsecondary education in construction, engineering, business, or a related field. Valid drivers licence; willingness to attend site walkthroughs. Work Environment Officebased role with periodic construction site visits.
