As an Environmental Coordinator you will play an integral role in supporting project teams to achieve and maintain full compliance with environmental legislation, contractual requirements, and other projectspecific conditions and commitments. Your work will help foster a positive and proactive culture of environmental awareness and regulatory responsibility not only amongst your project team but across the Pomerleau family. In your capacity as Environmental Coordinator you will: Report to the Regional Environmental Manager and/or the respective Project Manager for the project you are assigned to. Actively support the development of environmental management plans, permit applications, and other preconstruction deliverables (e.g., erosion and sediment control plans, environmental protection plans, etc.) as required by the project. Implement the projectspecific environmental monitoring program, including insitu water quality monitoring (e.g., turbidity, pH, etc.), wildlife monitoring, invasive plant management, soil movement (i.e., relocation, storage, disposal), waste segregation and recycling, and other components of general construction environmental monitoring. Maintain thorough project compliance records, including field notes, recorded measurements, checklists, analytical data, photographs, etc. Verify environmental compliance of subcontractors. Support the development of both routine and nonroutine regulatory submissions and generally assist in the regulatory reporting process. Identify, communicate, and help resolve potential, or actual, instances of environmental noncompliance and/or environmental incidents and emergencies. Track, document, and report on environmental performance indicators including environmental emergencies (i.e., spills), waste diversion and circular economy, and instances of nonconformance. As required, collect samples (e.g., water, soil, etc.) for laboratory analysis. Collaborate with an internal, multidisciplinary team of other professionals and, as necessary, liaise with external consultants, Clients, and regulators to ensure the success of the project. Participate in project meetings, debriefings, and contribute to environmental awareness training. This role could be for you if you have Minimum of a bachelors degree (or diploma) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Geology, or similar field. Is an applied scientist or technologist who is registered, and in good standings, with a professional association constituted under an Act and who is acting under that associations code of ethics and subject to the associations disciplinary proceedings (e.g., RPBiol, P.Ag, P.Eng, RB-Tech, etc.). Consideration may be given to individuals who are currently in the process of achieving their full designation (i.e., In Training). Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and the compliance management systems necessary to monitor, document, track, and report on the items as they apply to a respective project. Is experienced in a variety standard field techniques (e.g., insitu water quality monitoring, environmental sample collection and interpretation of analytical results, underwater noise monitoring, etc.). Demonstrated construction experience working on a range of complex, large scale civil and/or infrastructure development is considered an asset. Is a collaborative team player with excellent intrapersonal skills but is also self motivated and driven when necessary.
