This opportunity is ideal for a handson formulation expert who thrives in a teambased lab environment and is motivated to create highperformance coatings that meet industry standards and customer expectations. Joining a peoplefirst organization in a new phase of strategic growth, the successful candidate will be a key contributor to the ongoing evolution of BeautiTone, the number one Canadianmade and owned retail paint brand, exclusive to Home Hardware. Reporting to the Lab Manager, this technical leader will be responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining coating formulations from concept through to production. Drawing on a strong understanding of raw materials and paint chemistry, they will research and design new products, manage lab testing and scaleup, and provide expert support to quality control, batchmakers, and plant staff. In collaboration with crossfunctional teams, they will help ensure new products meet performance, regulatory, and commercial goals while maintaining Home Hardwares reputation for quality and innovation. The successful candidate will also liaise with external industry partners, technical reps, and suppliers to explore alternative materials, improve performance, and reduce costs. Their work will directly influence Home Hardwares ability to stay competitive and agile in a dynamic marketplace. In addition to formulation and troubleshooting, this role offers the chance to mentor junior lab staff, support product launches, and contribute to various internal initiatives. To qualify for this opportunity, candidates should possess: A college diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology or a university degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering 8 to 10 years of experience in coatings formulation, product development, or a related field Proven ability to create and optimize formulations using deep knowledge of raw materials and their functional properties Experience with lab instrumentation and testing methods, including ASTM and supplierdeveloped protocols A solid understanding of paint manufacturing processes and plant scaleup Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and adjust formulations as needed Confidence working independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced lab setting Comfort supporting crossfunctional projects and engaging with multiple departments Effective communication and documentation skills, including technical reporting and lab recordkeeping Knowledge of regulatory standards such as MSDS, CCCR, WHMIS, and environmental health and safety policies Salary: $54,000$74,000 plus performance bonuses Working in partnership with Home Hardware, Prime Management Group Inc. will accept all resumes and cover letters from interested candidates in confidence.
