Village House is a spacious, newly renovated assisted living home nestled in the hills of Kelowna, BC, designed specifically for young adults with high and complex medical needs. The home is equipped with modern medical technologyincluding ceiling and mobile lifts, accessible bathrooms, and enhanced safety featuresto ensure comfort, dignity, and seamless clinical support. Grounded in trauma informed practice, Village House promotes a safe, structured, and predictable environment where residents can feel secure and empowered. Our team designs and evaluates individualized programs that support healthy development, involve families, and reduce potential trauma triggers. Staff work collaboratively to build strong, positive relationships and create a healing, supportive atmosphere where each resident can thrive. The Position The Position The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of service recipients according to the care plan in this CARFaccredited agency. This position provides nursing care to service recipients with complex physical and mental health, and/or behavioural complexities with a focus on individualization and integrated services while enhancing quality of life. Schedule One (1) permanent, fulltime position with a weekly schedule of 40 hours: Monday through Friday, 15002300 In Your Role You Will Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and develop individualized nursing care plans and therapies for service recipients. Provide recipientcentered care by utilizing skills of observation, monitoring, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, health teaching, reporting and documenting any adverse events or conditions to immediate supervisor or required stakeholders. Perform routine nursing care to individuals in care such as described medications and treatments according to the established care plan or medical directive. Perform specialized nursing procedures for which recognized training and current competencies have been demonstrated and updated per standards such as tube feeding. Implement established procedures to prepare essential facilities, equipment and supplies. Provide or assist with emergencies consistent with legislative parameters and approved organization policy. Uphold infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment. Educate individuals in care, their families and support staff about health conditions, care plans, and available resources. Perform miscellaneous jobrelated duties as required. Required Competencies Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to make sound decisions. Commitment to providing highquality, individualized, compassionate care. Knowledge and understanding of best practices in the field; ability to develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individual care plans; knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, policies, and standards relating to service recipients care plan. Able to foster a cooperative work environment; strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of service recipients and staff, understanding cultural influences on care and support. Proficient in the use of computers and related applications, including Windows and MS and/or Open Office suites; willingness to learn and adapt to new software. Ability to reprioritize and adjust to interruptions and changing requirements. Able to collect, organize, prepare, and edit correspondence, reports, and other documentation; maintain files and records according to applicable agency, ministry, and accreditation standards. Strong conflict resolution, mediation and crisis prevention and intervention techniques. Commitment to quality assurance, knowledge of CARF, and related accreditation and certification requirements. Prior to confirmation of employment, all applicants must provide a copy of a current Criminal Record Check and/or Government Screening Letter. As An Ideal Candidate You Possess A degree in Nursing, plus registration with the appropriate provincial licensing body. Current Registration with the British Columbia Colleges of Nurses and Midwives (BCCN & M # required) Valid CPR/First Aid Level C Certification. Clear Criminal Record Check. Valid Class 5 driver license, Drivers Abstract. Negative tuberculosis and screening test. Other Requirements All new employees are required to attend the new employee orientation. Required inservice training within the first 6 months of employment includes MANDT, sanitation, and WHMIS.
