Job Overview A Learning Disability Nurse role in the Calderdale CAMHS Learning Disability Team supports children and young people (aged 018) with learning disabilities and complex health needs. The post is fulltime, flexible with permanent contract, band 6 and located at the Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre, Great Albion Street, Halifax (HX1 1YR). Key Responsibilities Act as a specialist practitioner in community settings, undertaking holistic assessments and developing care plans. Collaborate with partner agencies, multiagency meetings and panels to contribute professional information. Lead and develop group work and supervise students and other staff. Screen referrals, conduct risk assessments and support crisis response. Provide clinical supervision and support to nursing staff and other disciplines. Qualifications & Experience Registered Nurse with Learning Disability (RNLD) certification. Teaching qualification is desirable. Substantial postqualifying experience in care for people with learning disabilities. Experience working within an interdisciplinary team. Experience in managing care and supporting families and carers. Special Knowledge & Skills Specialist knowledge across a range of learning disability areas. Understanding of cultural and diversity issues, mental health, challenging behaviour, and complex health needs. Planning, organising, health promotion and facilitation skills. Teaching practice experience. Essential Training Up-to-date professional knowledge through degree, diploma, specialist training and short courses. Physical Attributes Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. Good sickness record over the previous two years. Personal Attributes Selfmotivated with good communication and interpersonal skills. Enthusiastic, able to work under pressure. Current driving licence and access to a car for the working day.
