Company Description Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package. As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030. The project will strengthen Ontarios economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction. What is the project? A sixkilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River). Stations: One aboveground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station. Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations. Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown). Job Description The Assistant Superintendent supports the General Superintendent or Superintendent in coordinating daily onsite construction activities, ensuring the project runs safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans and specifications. This role supports managing scheduling, manpower, materials, and subcontractors while maintaining site documentation and assisting in resolving onsite issues to keep the project on track. The salary range for this position is $140,000CAD $180,000CAD, plus additional benefits. Key Responsibilities Operational Oversight Assist the General Superintendent or Superintendent in managing onsite work to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Monitor work performance to ensure project rules and procedures are followed. Advise the General Superintendent or Superintendent of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties, and help resolve them. Planning, Scheduling & Resource Coordination Support planning and implementation of schedules, manpower levels, material quantities, inspections, and equipment needs. Ensure proper equipment and trades are available as required. Maintain and analyze uptodate cost reports and recommend changes to keep the project within budget. Supervision & Safety Management Supervise employees and subcontractors to achieve project deliverables. Apply and enforce the Project Specific Safety Program and ensure compliance with HS&E standards, OH&S Acts, regulations, and codes. Reporting & Stakeholder Communication Oversee accurate project reporting, including site progress, events, and inspections. Meet with consultants, trades, and other stakeholders professionally, communicating concerns and representing the companys best interests. Qualifications Post secondary education in Construction Management or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience. Minimum 5+ years of civil construction experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, general foreman or similar role. Proficient knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control and engineering drawings. Experience in civil works (Concrete pours, falsework, formwork, waterproofing, rebar, etc.) and SOE is an asset. Ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes, produce workable solutions and lead a large team to successful completion. Time management skills and ability to prioritize. Leadership skills and experience supervising trades, contractors and other personnel. Working knowledge of scheduling, project management, and Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
