Interim Assistant Head of Preparatory School Toronto, ON, CA FullTime, 1year contract; End date: May 2027 Key Responsibilities and Tasks Ensure the delivery of transformational learning experiences for students in Years6 and7 and foster effective leadership focused on improving student learning. Lead the daytoday operations of the Middle division based on the Mission, Vision and values of the College. Uphold the Code of Conduct, student expectations, and engage employees and students in highquality IBMYP, advising and cocurriculars. Develop a learningfocused culture of trust and collaboration; monitor academic performance and make datainformed recommendations. Effectively lead change initiatives, support planning and facilitation of Prep Program Team meetings, and participate in Prep Leadership Team and Academic Leadership Team meetings. Collaborate with Subject Learning Leaders, MYP Coordinator and Director of Academics to deliver the MYP, ensuring alignment with Ontario Ministry of Education expectations. Partner with Instructional Coach to promote best practices in pedagogy, assessment and learning progressions. Lead the delivery of curricular, cocurricular, and wellbeing programs at the Middle division; attend and/or facilitate professional learning. Build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff and families; act as a friendly and respectful role model. Implement student behaviour and positive discipline processes that promote restitution and learning; maintain open communication with all stakeholders. Oversee services for Middle students and parents, including student leadership & servicelearning opportunities, and collaborate with the Wernham West Centre for Learning. Manage faculty growth & evaluation, workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, professional learning and employee wellbeing programmes. Plan and implement Middle Division operations including faculty meetings, assemblies, field trips, duty schedules, timetabling, health and safety, facilities, handbooks, attendance, transition programmes, graduation, report cards, conferences, parent partnership evenings, etc. Teach the equivalent of 1 section as determined by the Head of the Prep; supervise one cocurricular activity; participate in Admissions as needed. Job Requirements Relevant bachelors degree, B.Ed or equivalent, five years of teaching experience and demonstrated leadership in curriculum, student life or school operations. A masters degree, PQP and/or CAIS Leadership Qualifications are an asset. Strong grasp of developmental needs of students in Years6 &7 and knowledge of the MYP and inquirybased learning. Knowledge of wellbeing practices, student leadership development and sound professional judgement. Ability to prioritise and successfully implement programmes, initiatives and projects at Middle in line with the Colleges strategic direction. Ability to analyse data and information to determine recommendations. Ability to organise people, assess performance, provide mentoring and support constructive improvement. Ability to build positive working relationships and engage in challenging conversations. Use of emotional intelligence to adapt interpersonal style and be sensitive and open to others views.
