The SickKids Hospital Concierge and Navigation Team are part of the Patient and Family Experience team. The focus of the Hospital Navigator is to provide Service Excellence to the patients and families we serve. The Hospital Navigator greets and supports patients, families, and visitors entering the hospital through the public entrances on the main floor. This role operates seven days a week and includes a combination of day, afternoon, and evening shifts. Heres What Youll Get To Do Welcome visitors in a friendly and courteous manner upon arrival. Direct/escort urgent patients into the Emergency Department. Provide guidance to the self-screening/ self-masking process and actively screen siblings and visitors under the age of twelve for common childhood illnesses. Assist with wayfinding either through providing concise directions or by escorting patients/family to their destination both within the hospital campus and to nearby hospitals. Assist with carrying luggage and personal belongings and the delivery of items when required. Provide valet service for car seats. Obtain wheelchairs as needed. Be aware of local resources and options available for families in the vicinity and be able to give directions accordingly. Support caregiver wellness by providing respite and delivering snacks to units. Provide patients and caregivers with MyChart support. Access Womens Auxiliary Volunteers, Protection Services, Environmental Services, Patient and Family Relations, and Plant and Operations for assistance when necessary. Perform related duties as required. Heres What Youll Need Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent required. Minimum 2 years of customer service experience preferred. Lived experience as a caregiver within a hospital setting an asset. Friendly, dependable, and compassionate individual with a high degree of professionalism and empathy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a team setting. Adaptability to change and flexibility. Must be available Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.
