Under the direction of the Director, Assess Programs and Registrarial Services, the incumbent is a valued member of the Woodsworth College Registrar''s Office academic advising team. The incumbent is responsible for in-person and email advisement, facilitating admissions, and assisting students with navigating fees, petitions, and other rules and regulations in the Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS). Specifically, the incumbent coordinates the admissions, advising, and program administration of two programs: the Academic Bridging Program and Digital Humanities. The incumbent must maintain student records and achievement data as well as produce corresponding reports. In addition, the incumbent is the primary contact for other offices at the University of Toronto and for responding to general and detailed inquiries from students, staff, instructors, other institutions, and the general public. The person also provides program support and administrative support for the Woodsworth One program. Your responsibilities will include: Advising students on educational plan, programs, and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences Providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies and deadlines Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals, and suggesting alternative course of action as necessary Advising students on financial aid matters and bursaries Developing content for and facilitating workshops and information sessions Applying established standards when administering a process for consistent evaluation of applications Reviewing and assessing admissions applications and preparing admission spreadsheets for decision-making Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming such as new student orientation Promoting events and programs to target audiences. Supporting the recruitment and administrative support of teaching assistants, sessional lecturers, and/or stipend instructors Essential Qualifications: Bachelor''s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Minimum four years of recent and related experience providing academic advising to undergraduate students in student service and academic advising role(s) at a post-secondary education institution. Experience gained from Registrar''s Office is a strong asset Advanced academic advising and counselling skills with a demonstrated ability to problem-solve Proven experience advising students from diverse backgrounds, particularly mature/adult students, high-risk students facing personal and academic challenges, and students pursuing alternative and non-linear educational trajectories Excellent student services skills, with a strong commitment to high service excellence Experience conducting presentations and information sessions Experience with student recruitment and outreach Experience conducting presentations and information sessions Experience preparing reports Experience updating websites Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Experience with ROSI, with advanced skills Experience with Slate Experience interpreting and applying University of Toronto policies and procedures Must be able to cope with a constantly changing and complex set of academic regulations Superior oral and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills, showing initiative and good judgement, and also the ability to work cooperatively and be an effective team member Must have sound judgment and ability to identify and deal with challenging student issues Deep understanding and commitment to Equity, Diversity, inclusion, and Accessibility Ability to demonstrate attention to detail with strong time and organizational skills and ability to prioritize high volume and competing demands To be successful in this role you will be: Diplomatic Intuitive Problem solver Resourceful Tactful Team player This role may be eligible for an Alternative Work Arrangement in accordance with the University of Toronto''s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.
