See more on our Glassdoor, Instagram and website The Opportunity As a Product Engineer Co-op, you''ll be at the core of our Product Department''s successfueling teamwork, sparking innovation, and bringing big ideas to life. This is your chance to dive into market research, create SolidWorks designs, and play a key role in shaping and launching exciting new products.You''ll collaborate with talented designers and engineers, tackle meaningful projects, and take the lead on developing a product from concept to prototype. By the end of your term, you''ll present your achievements and show how your work has shaped our vision. Learning Objectives: Improve SolidWorks Skills (overall). Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Gain real-world experience designing for specific manufacturing methods, including sheet metal, and injection molding. Technical Documentation: Learn to create professional production drawings using GD&T standards and reliable operating procedures. Professional Growth: Develop project management and collaboration skills that align with career goals. What you''ll be doing: Product Development [30%] + Support product development from concept to final product on various projects. + Assist with technical documents for external parties. + Assist with operating and maintaining a 3D printer. + Assist with developing and executing test plans of products. + Provide cross-departmental support throughout product launches. + Propose design and testing solutions based on researched data and thorough understanding of product goals. Team Building [10%] + Communicate School Requirements: Ensure compliance with co-op program expectations, documenting requirements and providing timely assistance or reviews. + Actively participate in weekly team meetings by presenting progress and understanding how the department is performing against targets. + Work with the product team to refine concepts, execute product development, identify opportunities, streamline workflows and improve existing processes. + Follow the existing documentation process and provide continuous improvement suggestions as needed. + Complete and thoroughly understand any all training modules Product Realization [10%] + Maintain a deep understanding of the product team''s long-term goals and provide proactive support to achieve them. + Analyze customer reviews/ratings to understand customer perception of products. + Diagnose product defects, providing comprehensive troubleshooting support to other departments. This includes identifying root causes and developing a minimum of two solutions. + Support quality assurance initiatives such as SOP documentation and assessing prototypes for accuracy of manufacturing. You''re a good fit if you: + Have knowledge of design process, product development, testing, and market research processes. + Familiarity with compliance requirements for co-op programs. + Familiarity using hand tools (e.g. screwdriver, box-cutter, hammer, etc) + Experience with SolidWorks for design and modeling projects. + Familiarity with product development processes, including research, prototyping, and testing. + Demonstrated ability to conduct market research and summarize findings effectively. + Exposure to manufacturing processes such as sheet metal and injection molding is an asset. + Proficiency in using tools like Google Suite, Slack, and 3D printing technologies. + Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. + Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and creative approach to problem-solving. + Have the following tech stack: SolidWorks 3D Printing Google Suite Slack Keyshot (bonus).
