Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION The Stockkeeper / Material Handler reports to the Shift Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring the continuous flow of material throughout the production process. This role includes supplying raw materials to production lines, transferring finished goods from production to shipping, assisting production crews with put-ups, and maintaining Work-in-Progress (WIP) and core cutter areas. The Stockkeeper / Material Handler also acts as a relief operator on Class 7 production lines as required. This position requires the safe operation of forklift equipment, the accurate use of QAD and Redzone systems, and a consistent commitment to workplace safety, housekeeping, and cleanliness standards. Within the limits of applicable policies, procedures and established plans, this role has the authority to take action and make decisions. The assignment of work or delegation of responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results. Performance will be measured by the extent to which the responsibilities have been fulfilled. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Daily operation of all material handling equipment with valid Hood Packaging licence Maintains all work-in-process (WIP) areas including warehouse, extrusion, press and converting - to ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment Ensure FIFO is used for all stock material including rolls, pallets, masterbatch, etc. Identifies and brings forward any orphan rolls Supplies all departments with raw materials including rolls, masterbatch, pallets, pallet covers, etc. Accountable for the core cutter area including cutting cores, housekeeping and maintaining stock Assists all crews with preparing pallets to be delivered to shipping and moving from the lines Moves any non-dispositioned, red-tagged product to the appropriate NC area Assists with maintaining the NC area by moving dispositioned product to the appropriate area Trained relief operator for both 405 and 603 production lines Other duties as required or assigned KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Frequent contact with Operations Manager, Supervisors and Operations associates Regular contact with Warehouse Supervisor, Shipping Lead hand and Shippers Regular contact with other departments FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS Read and understand the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Practice and encourage safe work behavior Understand the procedure of reporting all accidents and near misses Understand the safety features of all material handling equipment Understand and follow the food, safety, quality and department procedures Understand and perform good housekeeping practices continuously Read and understand a work order Communicate to supervisor if unable to work shift for any reason. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Continuous standing Frequent walking, lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing 10 lbs to 50 lbs Frequently reaching above shoulders, at shoulder height and below shoulders while preparing pallets of finished goods material Occasional bending, kneeling, twisting, crouching / stooping, climbing WORK ENVIRONMENT Fast-paced production environment, focused on safety, teamwork and quality QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & OTHER SKILLS Education Grade 12 or equivalent Experience 2 plus years of related experience Other Skills Ability to manage shifting priorities and meet deadlines Organizational, communication, and attention to detail skills required Ability to operate forklift Computer literacy required Continental 12 hours shifts. 2 days on 2 days off and every other weekend. Switch to nights every two weeks
