Wood is seeking a Front End Project Development Lead to join our Canada Projects business delivering some of the world''s boldest and most critical projects. This opportunity is Onsite. The Role Wood is currently seeking a Front End Project Development Lead who will lead a team of Wood specialists in defining and executing front-end development and sustaining capital projects at our Client''s refinery in the Edmonton region. This role requires a strong foundation in process engineering and mechanical engineering, with proven experience in client-facing project delivery. Responsibilities Typical Responsibilities: Develop and manage front-end scopes for sustaining capital projects, including FEL1/FEL2 phases. Lead feasibility studies, risk assessments, and concept selection for refinery upgrades (e.g., metallurgy, temperature control, corrosion mitigation). Act as the primary Wood Canada interface with the Clients production, business, and technical teams to ensure scope alignment and stakeholder engagement. Prepare project deliverables such as project premise documents, feasibility reports, basis for design, and execution plans. Support MOC (Management of Change) scopes independently under Client''s program. Ensure compliance with Clients'' Opportunity Realization Work Process and technical assurance protocols. Participate in construction walk-downs and field inspections to validate design intent and execution quality. Become fully familiar with Wood''s local design & delivery capabilities, and Wood''s global network of technical specialists; in order to offer our Clients unsurpassed expertise in solving technical challenges. Expected: Bachelor''s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registered with APEGA. Minimum 15 years of experience in oil & gas, refining, or petrochemical projects. Strong background in FEED, field engineering, and project management. Demonstrated ability to define project scopes, offer technical solutions, and develop execution plans, based on limited inputs and data from the Client. Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and ERP systems. Excellent communication and client management skills. This position is based in Edmonton and is not eligible for relocation assistance or living allowance. Candidates must be located in the Edmonton area or be willing to relocate at own expense Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required Desirable: Familiarity with Shell, Suncor, and/or Imperial Oil project systems and standards is an asset.
