About Us Peaskie Minerals is a premier supplier of domestically sourced proppants and silica flour to the West Central Sedimentary Basin (WCSB). Our facility is located approximately 12 km north of Redwater or a 45-minute drive from north Edmonton. Please note this is NOT a camp position. Candidates must live in the area or be willing to commute. Purpose The Quality Control Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing quality assurance and quality control programs for sand and aggregate production within a mining and processing environment. This role ensures all materials meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory and industry standards while supporting safe, efficient, and consistent plant operations. Duties and Responsibilities Quality Management & Compliance Develop, implement, and maintain the site Quality Control (QC) program for sand and aggregate products. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Establish quality benchmarks for gradation, moisture, fines content, strength, and other relevant material properties. Review test results and production data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare and maintain quality documentation, reports, and records for audits, inspections, and customer requirements. Testing & Laboratory Oversight Oversee all sampling, testing, and analysis of raw materials and finished products. Ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operated. Validate test methods and ensure technicians follow approved procedures. Investigate non-conforming material and determine root cause and corrective actions. Operations Support Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other teams to ensure consistent product quality. Provide real-time quality feedback to production teams and recommend process adjustments as needed. Support new product development, blend designs, and specification changes. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize quality and reduce waste or rework. Leadership & Training Lead, mentor, and supervise quality control technicians and laboratory staff. Provide training on testing procedures, safety practices, and quality standards. Promote a strong quality culture aligned with operational excellence and safety. Health, Safety & Environment Ensure all quality control activities comply with site safety policies and mining regulations. Conduct work in accordance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations as required. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements Education Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Mining Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Geology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience Minimum 57 years of quality control experience in sand, gravel, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, or mining-related materials. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Strong understanding of aggregate processing operations and mining environments. Technical Skills In-depth knowledge of aggregate testing methods and specifications. Experience with quality management systems and continuous improvement practices. Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and Microsoft Office or similar systems.
