Job Summary The MAC Barrhaven Islamic Centre is actively seeking applications for the Childcare and Youth Junior Program Worker (CYJPW). The CYJPW provides safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for children (3-8 years old and 9-12 years old) during programs and events. This role supports families by creating a warm, faith-centered environment where children feel welcomed, valued, and cared for while parents participate in worship, programs, or activities. This role involves supervising children, planning and leading age-appropriate activities, ensuring a positive and structured environment, and maintaining clear communication with parents, staff, and leadership. Key Responsibilities Provide attentive and compassionate care for children of various ages during services, programs, and special events Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging childcare environment at all times. Plan and facilitate fun, inclusive activities (games, crafts, etc.) that align with Islamic values. Maintain accurate attendance records and follow MAC policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administrators. Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of program materials. Address behavioral or logistical issues in a patient and professional manner. Model positive behavior and Islamic values through words and actions Qualifications Experience working with children (childcare, babysitting, camp, or masjid experience preferred) A genuine love for children and a caring, patient demeanor Understanding of child development and age-appropriate behavior Ability to work well as part of a team Reliable, punctual, and responsible Comfortable working in an Islamic and faith-based environment Current vulnerable sector / background check (or willingness to obtain one) First Aid/CPR certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain) Working Conditions During Ramadan: Two shifts available each night during Taraweeh prayers Flexible hours, primarily during Centre''s services, weekday programs, or special events May involve standing, bending, and lifting small children Indoor setting within the Centre''s facilities Why Join Us?
