Job Description

West Parkland Gas Co-op (WPG) is a natural gas cooperative in Alberta that was formed on May 12, 1972. WPG provides natural gas to over 5200 members across Parkland County, Stony Plain, and the Village of Spring Lake and continues to grow. What will I be doing? Reporting to the Administration Supervisor, the Receptionist is the first point of contact for all members, customers, and visitorsboth in person and by telephone. The Receptionist also assists in administrative and operational functions, ensuring smooth communication and workflow within the co-op. Responsible for answering and direct incoming calls promptly, transferring calls to the appropriate department and taking messages when necessary. Responsible for troubleshooting and assisting customers with basic billing inquiries (ie: balance owing, other simple/general questions). Assist customers at the front desk by providing information, receiving payments, and addressing inquiries and/or deferring to applicable department. Process and reconcile daily payments, including cash, cheque, and electronic payments. Record cheque payments and ensure accurate documentation. Process propane payments and call for tank exchanges as required. Track tank recertifications, maintain records, and notify customers when tanks are ready. Ability to track and maintain multiple records, including work orders, vehicle logs, and financial transactions. Responsible for ordering office supplies through different online platforms. Maintain and update phone extensions and employee contact lists. What do I need to succeed? A minimum of a GED. A post-secondary diploma or degree is preferred. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience preferably with bookkeeping or processing payments, reconciling cash, and maintaining accurate financial records. Effective verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization. Strong customer service skills and experience in managing client queries. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines. Strong prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy. Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times. Strong computer skills and ability to work with Microsoft Office suite of business programs.
