HR & Labour Relations Generalist (Mat Leave 15-18 Month Contract) Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. (PNG), a subsidiary of TriSummit Utilities Inc., owns and operates natural gas transmission and distribution systems in British Columbias lower Peace River, west central, and north coast regions. PNGs western transmission line extends from the Enbridge gas transmission system north of Prince George and along the Highway 16 and Highway 37 south corridors to the port communities of Kitimat and Prince Rupert, providing transportation and gas services to twelve communities and a number of industrial facilities. In the Provinces northeast, Pacific Northern Gas (N.E.) Ltd. provides gas processing, transmission, and distribution service in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge areas. PNG is seeking an energetic and driven HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced work environment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to collective agreements, labour relations, and unionized environments. This maternity leave coverage role is anticipated to last approximately 1518 months. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, this position is located at our Vancouver, B.C. office. The HR/LR Generalist will provide support in areas of Human Resources and Labour Relations. This includes recruitment, workforce planning, engagement, employee and labour relations, talent management, performance management, along with HR and LR communication and documentation. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Working in partnership with department leaders, responsible for full-cycle recruitment including posting, sourcing, screening, interviewing, reference and background checks, as well as supporting candidate selection and job offer process. Conduct HR onboarding, including providing HRIS training. Support hiring managers throughout the onboarding and probationary process to ensure new hires joining the organization are set up for success. Under the direction of the Manager, Human Resources, provides guidance and support to leaders and employees on a wide range of HR/LR needs that cover the entire employee life cycle from onboarding to offboarding. Act as the first point in contact regarding HR-related inquiries. Provide initial guidance and support on a variety of matters including, but not limited to, policy, and collective agreement interpretation, absence and leave management issues, performance management, respectful workplace concerns, and conflict resolutions. Provide LR administrative support in the form of communications/documentation and note taking with investigations, grievances and other general LR matters. Gather and analyze data using various HR metrics; identifies patterns, trends and issues; makes recommendations to Manager, HR. Assist with investigations on human resources and labour relations matters. Collaborates with HR team to support employee training, development and engagement. Maintains accurate, current and complete employee records, including ensuring the integrity of the HRIS data, online files, and other HR documentation. Maintain UKG knowledge of the HRIS to help troubleshoot issues, , and support ongoing releases and/or enhancement of the system. Support the job evaluation and compensation review process. Assist in monitoring updating policies, processes, practices, systems, tools, templates, and ensure compliance. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED: Post -Secondary diploma or degree Human Resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of relevant progressive experience, preferably in a unionized environment. CPHR designation or Candidate. 2 years of Labour Relations experience, preferred. Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including BC Employment Standards, Labour standards, Human Rights, Workers Compensation and Privacy Legislation. Direct experience working with a HRIS, such UKG and/or JDE. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, organization and planning skills with the ability to think strategically. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Provide a high level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and safeguard confidential information. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with employee group benefits plans and working with collective agreements considered an asset. Strong results-orientation effectively managing personal resources to achieve goals. Verifies the accuracy own work. Have experience assessing and identifying needs of others, and being solutions focused. Takes ownership of decisions and ensures decisions are consistent with company policies and procedures. Proficient MS Office and Windows-based computer applications skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.). SALARY RANGE $80,000 to $100,000 depending on background and experience.
