Ophthalmologist Lions Gate Hospital Position: Two General Ophthalmologists (0.5 FTE) at Lions Gate Hospital, Vancouver Coastal Health. Status: Permanent Part-Time. Start Date: April 1, 2026. Compensation Type: Clinical Service Contract. Overview The Division of Ophthalmology at Lions Gate Hospital is seeking two General Ophthalmologists based at the hospital within the VCH region. The Division comprises five surgeons and offers admitting and operating privileges. The role includes participation in the ophthalmology oncall rota, preoperative and postoperative assessment of cataract patients, cataract surgery, and diagnosis and management of ophthalmic emergencies. Clinical Responsibilities Participate in the ophthalmology oncall rota. Perform preoperative and postoperative assessment of cataract patients. Perform cataract surgery in a daysurgery environment. Diagnose and manage ophthalmic emergencies. Maintain 1/7 call requirement for a 0.5 FTE position. Qualifications Completed an accredited Ophthalmology residency program. Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience (considered an asset). Strong commitment to patientcentred care, quality improvement and collaborative practice within a multidisciplinary team.
