Contract Immigration Paralegal (Canada Remote) Location: Remote (Canada-based)Engagement Type: Independent Contractor / ContractCompensation: Flat fee per assignment or hourly (rates determined based on experience and expertise)Industry Focus: Manufacturing, Technology, and related sectorsAbout the RoleOur client, a Canada-based immigration law firm, is seeking an experienced Contract Immigration Paralegal to support employer-driven and business immigration matters on a flexible, assignment-based basis. This role is ideal for a senior paralegal with strong drafting skills and hands-on experience managing complex Canadian immigration applications independently.The position is fully remote and open to candidates located anywhere in Canada.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, draft, and manage Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications, including:High-Wage and Low-Wage streamsGlobal Talent Stream (Category A & B)Employer Compliance documentationRecruitment efforts and advertising complianceDraft and support ICT (Intra-Company Transfer) and other LMIA-exempt work permit applications, including:CUSMA/NAFTA ProfessionalsSignificant Benefit (C10)Entrepreneurs / Owner-OperatorsGlobal Mobility Program work permitsPrepare employer support letters, submissions, and legal-style narratives for writing-intensive applications for lawyer reviewCoordinate documentation from employers and foreign workers to ensure accuracyReview applications for completeness, consistency, and regulatory compliance under lawyer supervisionTrack deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneouslyCommunicate professionally with legal counsel and clients as requiredRequired QualificationsMinimum 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Canadian LMIAsDemonstrated experience supporting manufacturing and/or technology sector employersStrong working knowledge of IRCC and ESDC/Service Canada requirementsExperience preparing writing-intensive applications (e.g., ICTs, significant benefit cases)Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent written English skills with strong attention to detailComfortable working in a remote, contract-based environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with:Global Talent Stream (GTS) LMIAsEmployer compliance reviews and auditsWork permit extensions and amendmentsPermanent residence streams tied to employer support (e.g., Express Entry, PNP employer-driven cases)Familiarity with compliance-heavy industries and regulated employersPrior experience working with immigration law firms or boutique practicesKnowledge of common pitfalls and risk factors in LMIA and ICT applicationsAbility to suggest process improvements or efficienciesAdditional Skills Strong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to manage fluctuating workloads and deadlinesProfessional judgmentComfort using case management systems and cloud-based document toolsClear, professional communication styleInterest in long-term, ongoing contract collaborationCompensation & FlexibilityPaid on a flat-fee, per-assignment basis or hourlyFees will be mutually agreed upon based on level of experience, subject-matter expertise, and complexity of workFlexible workload with the potential for recurring assignments
