IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY Interim Director of Procurement Reports to Chief Financial Officer Duration: 4-6 Months Location: Kitchener Hybrid working Accommodation provided Our client is a well respected community hospital, they are looking for a seasoned procurement professional to provide stabilizing leadership and daytoday operational oversight of the procurement function while simultaneously conducting a strategic review. This role is designed to ensure continuity, drive accountability, and accelerate performance improvements during a period of organizational transition. The interim leader will also develop a forwardlooking, sustainabilityaligned procurement strategy and assess partnership or integration opportunities with a larger regional organization. Key Accountabilities: Sustain and Strengthen DaytoDay Operational Leadership Provide steady, visible leadership to the supply chain team across purchasing, logistics, inventory management, contracting, and materials management. Ensure continuity of service to internal stakeholders, clinical programs, and external partners. Maintain efficient, compliant procurement operations aligned with Broader Public Sector guidelines (if applicable). Coach, mentor, and motivate team members; reinforce clear expectations and consistent communication. Ensure operational KPIs (cost, service level, stock accuracy, turns, fulfillment timelines) are monitored and met. Deliver a comprehensive, insightdriven review that evaluates: Organizational structure and role clarity. Spend analytics and key categories Supplier performance and contract portfolio Inventory levels, distribution processes, and logistics workflows System and technology effectiveness Pain points, bottlenecks, risk exposures, and inefficiencies Conduct a Strategic Review of the Supply Chain Function Deliver a comprehensive, insightdriven review that evaluates: Organizational structure and role clarity Spend analytics and key categories Supplier performance and contract portfolio Inventory levels, distribution processes, and logistics workflows System and technology effectiveness Pain points, bottlenecks, risk exposures, and inefficiencies This review will result in a prioritized set of recommendations aimed at improving: Efficiency and cost effectiveness Service quality and responsiveness Functional impact on clinical and corporate stakeholders Governance, controls, and contract management Team capability and performance accountability Drive Accountability, Efficiency, and Performance Introduce or reinforce clear performance expectations, metrics, and reporting cadence. Implement quickwin process improvements where possible without compromising stability. Strengthen crossfunctional alignment with Finance, Operations, Clinical leadership, and external partners. Establish a continuous improvement mindset, including LEAN principles where applicable. Develop a 3Year Supply Chain Strategy Create a forwardlooking strategic plan that: Supports the organizations broader strategic plan and sustainability objectives. Strengthens resilience, risk management, and cost control. Outlines digital transformation and automation opportunities. Defines futurestate supply chain capabilities, structure, and investment requirements. Clarifies how the function will contribute to environmental sustainability goals (e.g., waste reduction, responsible sourcing, energyefficient logistics, supplier sustainability standards). Deliverables: 3year roadmap Prioritized initiatives with resource requirements KPI framework Investment and savings projections Assess Potential Integration with a Larger Regional Partner Lead a structured review of the potential for integration, consolidation, or sharedservice partnership with a regional supply chain entity. Key elements: Benchmark current operations vs. potential partner capabilities Analyze financial, operational, and servicelevel implications Identify risks, barriers, and enabling factors Evaluate cultural and governance considerations Provide a recommendation supported by evidence and scenario analysis If integration is recommended, develop a highlevel transition pathway.
