Job Description

Sinai Health is looking for a Registered Dietitian to support our Clinical Nutrition Department at Mount Sinai Hospital. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team at The Leadership Sinai Centre for Diabetes (LSCD) at Mount Sinai Hospital the registered dietitian is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of innovative clinical and educational services for patients and their families who have gestational diabetes, type 1 or type 2 diabetes or diabetes in pregnancy. The LSCD has built a strong reputation as a diabetes centre that serves patients with complex needs requiring specialist diabetes management. You will be an integral part of this team dedicated to improving the lives of people with diabetes through translational research, the highest quality patient care, as well as through programs and publications that improve the care of diabetes across Canada. You will provide a leadership model for other health care professionals contributing to our practice in the national and international diabetes community. About this team The Leadership Sinai Centre for Diabetes is a national leader in providing care for people with complex diabetes, thyroid disease and other endocrine conditions. We also specialize in caring for pregnant people with pre-existing Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, as well as those with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Our program is recognized for advancing diabetes care and research locally, provincially, nationally and internationally. In this role you will: Evaluate and assess patients'' management and education needs, self-care behaviours, obstacles to successful implementation of therapy Participate in the development of education curricula and materials by writing original material and/or reviewing the work of others Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop and implement clinical/education programs that service patients, professionals and the general public Develop individualized education and management plans, including appropriate follow-up Integrate current thought and research in diabetes, diabetes management and behaviour change strategies Contribute to LSCD goals for outreach and increased visibility by: contributing to newsletters and professional articles, delivering lectures, and contributing to development and implementation of work shops Be responsible for training and teaching dietetic interns and other students Implement Medical Directive for insulin adjustments Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required Job Requirements Job Requirements: Mandatory Successful completion of a Bachelor''s Degree from an accredited Nutrition and Food Program or equivalent Completion of an accredited dietetic internship or equivalent Member in good standing of the College of Dietitians of Ontario 2 years of experience Preferred Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) Experience with practice based research Skills and Knowledge Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Ability to utilize information technology to support practice (Outlook, Word, Accuro, Zoom, Teams) Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance If this sounds like you and you''re ready to build your career within nutrition, apply now and let us know why you''d be a great addition to our team.
