Job Number: 54400 The Construction Project Inspector I is the eyes and ears of the City of Edmonton. In this role, you will work with a team of Engineering Services professionals and contractors to support municipal roadway construction and rehabilitation. What will you do? Ensure all work performed is in accordance with Branch''s Occupational Health and Safety Program and Enviso, including completing daily field level hazard assessments and completing prime contractor safety orientation Inspect all phases of road construction to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance to specifications regarding material requirements, alignment, grade, finish, compaction, etc Coordinate quality testing and ensure contractors follow City''s HSE requirement, drawings, standards, specs Complete daily report with construction photos including monitoring construction progress and provide updates to project manager Provide field level response to basic resident inquiries and distribute bulletins Support general site safety and housekeeping, such as ensuring barricades, signage and survey stakes are in place Participate in private connector walk change forms with property owners Flag design issues, assist with redlines and develop solutions and recommendations Support the coordination of internal services (such as Survey, Testing, Traffic, ETS) and contracted services (such as Tree Pruning, Air Spaiding, Watering, Pruning, Courtesy Tow Coordination, etc.) Other related duties as required Qualifications: Completion of 2 year diploma in a Civil Engineering Technologist or other related engineering technologist program Minimum of 1 years of experience in construction inspections, including roadway construction, contract administration, material testing, underground utilities, survey work and/or landscape inspections Opportunity Concept: Candidates who do not have a related 2 year diploma may be considered at the opportunity concept rate, where they have completed a minimum of their first year technical coursework related to communications, asphalt, soils or concrete Assets: Certificate or diploma in Landscape Technology Membership in either ASET or APEGA Experience in landscaping industry, including streetscapes, parks, and trails Roadbuilders Safety Training System (RSTS) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certificates Skills required for success: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with contractors, coworkers, and the public. Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate reports.
