Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia Company Type: Growing local general contracting firm About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Superintendent to join our growing general contracting team in Halifax. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who takes pride in delivering high-quality projects, building strong relationships with local partners and trades, and contributing to a collaborative, growth-oriented company culture. The Site Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day management of construction sites, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities Manage all on-site construction activities from project start-up through close-out Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations Maintain the project schedule and proactively address delays or conflicts Enforce site safety programs and lead by example in promoting a safe work environment Conduct regular site meetings and communicate progress, issues, and solutions with the Project Manager Perform quality control inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily logs, safety records, and progress reports Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, and local partners Mentor junior site staff and contribute to continuous improvement of site processes Qualifications & Experience 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent with a general contractor Experience with commercial, institutional, and/or multi-unit residential projects is an asset Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and sequencing Solid understanding of Nova Scotia building codes, OH&S regulations, and site safety practices Proven leadership and communication skills Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage multiple priorities on site Proficiency with construction documentation and basic project management software Red Seal certification or equivalent trade background considered an asset What We Offer Opportunity to play a key role in a growing, locally rooted company Competitive compensation based on experience Supportive team environment with strong local partnerships Opportunities for long-term growth and advancement Projects primarily located in the Halifax Regional Municipality Our Culture As a local general contractor, we value integrity, accountability, and collaboration.
