Travel will be required to our Kingston office 1-2 times per quarter; day-to-day will be fully remote. Key Responsibilities: Lead Transformation: Be the subject-matter expert (SME) in Tax Slip reporting, spearheading initiatives to enhance and streamline processes. Foster a Winning Culture: Inspire and motivate your team to embrace new working methods, challenging the norm while championing a positive workplace culture. Develop Talent: Mentor team members, identify training needs, and guide them in goal-setting and performance management. Ensure Compliance: Oversee the entire tax slip reporting production process, ensuring alignment with CRA/MRQ regulations and industry standards. Adapt to Change: Stay ahead in the swiftly changing tax landscape by ensuring timely compliance with evolving laws and regulations to mitigate risks. Lead Projects: Collaborate with IT to define automation requirements for tax slip reporting and effectively communicate updates to executive stakeholders. Map Workflows: Take ownership of mapping Tax Slip reporting workflows and relevant data. Integrate Changes: Research and offer insights on seamlessly incorporating tax changes into company procedures. Set Compliance Standards: Develop internal control standards related to tax matters to ensure accuracy and compliance. Technical Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert for any tax-related issues, ensuring timely reporting to regulatory bodies. Network & Innovate: Connect with peers in the industry to keep abreast of trends and strategies, representing us on relevant committees. What We Seek: Industry Experience: Background in financial services or insurance is a must. Tax Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of Canadian federal and provincial tax codes, including various tax slip types (e.g., T5, T3, NR4, RLs). Professional Background: 5+ years in public accounting or taxation, with at least 3 years in a senior analyst position. Leadership Experience: Preferably 2+ years leading teams of three or more. Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Educational Credentials: A degree with coursework in accounting, taxation, business administration, or mathematics, with CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) being a plus. Soft Skills: Exceptional management, strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, and stakeholder communication abilities. Research & Analytical Skills: Capable of conducting thorough research, analyzing data, and proposing solutions. Attention to Detail: Strong mathematical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
