Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Freight Manager at DLVRD Freight. The Freight Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day freight operations. This role is based in Montreal, QC. Responsibilities Train, manage, coach, buildand develop the Freight Team plus support continuous learning to further develop direct reports. Determine the most efficient and cost-effective method of transporting freight to ensure timely delivery. Select and contract the best freight carriers. Negotiate shipping and warehousing prices. Monitor freight costs and develop strategies to reduce costs. Ensure timely order entry and updates in operating system for reflecting accurate records of logistics load notes, pricing, accessorial charges. Work directly with the VP of Sales on new opportunities. Work closely with other departments, such as sales, customer service, and operations, to ensure effective communication and coordination of transportation activities. Become an expert on our software platforms. Generate monthly reports and KPIs and communicate them accordingly. Communicate frequently with customers, distributors, suppliers, warehouse supervisors, production managers and trucking companies. Analyze customer and vendor problems and resolve them quickly to ensure customer satisfaction. Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Communicate Companys Mission & Vision Statements, Strategies, etc. and model Core Behaviors. Qualifications 10+ years of direct experience working inside a freight brokerage (not shipper-side or carrier-only). Minimum 3 years experience as an Operations Manager in the freight industry. Bachelors degree in logistics or a closely related field, an asset. Proven track record of managing carrier relationships and negotiating rates. Excellent written and verbal business communication skills for communicating with customers/vendors. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Detail oriented. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations as they relate to calculating pricing, revenue, and margin. Must be able to present oneself in a cooperative and professional manner with both internal and external customers and vendors. Ability and eagerness to learn new tasks and follow-through independently with minimal supervision. Keen ability to assess situations, perform root cause analysis, and provide solutions. Effective time management ability to manage self, time, and priorities.
